Brad: Something very rotten suddenly occuring in CA, plus more on OH
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 04:14 PM by Amaryllis
There are three breaking election reform stories here (or should we say election fraud stories). The last one is the one Einsteinia has been posting threads about for the past few weeks about alarming developments in CA. It becomes even more clear why they framed CA SOS Kevin Shelley, a true election rights hero, who was on Diebold like a bulldog, and replaced him with SOS McPherson, who is undoing Shelley's good work. Wonder who is behind that? Anyone care to take a guess?

From Brad:
Democracy Breakin': Ohio's Electric Boogaloo

The Corporate Media Continues to Not Care, But a Rightwing Blogger Finally Does...

A followup with additional details on our previous story pointing to the inexplicable results of last week's Ohio election where half the state added Electronic Voting machines for the first time. The result was a remarkable defeat of a 4 Initiative Election Reform package that polls in the days before the election showed was on its way to passage on several of the measures. The inexplicable results all looked something this:
ISSUE 3 (Revise campaign contribution limits)
PRE-POLLING: 61% Yes, 25% No, 14% Undecided
FINAL RESULT: 33% Yes, 66% No

1. The fact that Republicans are desperate to get Diebold
installed is something skeptics should consider.

9. That's the understatement of the century.
Their intention to continue stealing elections couldn't be more obvious. The security of the machines is irrelevant. Diebold is run by convicted felons, they're crooked. Secure machines in possession of crooked operators will continue to yield crooked results. There's no audit trail, no independent redundancy checks, no independent accuracy check at the precinct level. Nothing meaningful has changed. Dem leadership and MSM both still silent on election fraud. Can there be any doubt what's going to happen again in '06 and '08?

4. Thanks for the heads up! :-) It is indeed curious that the Sec of State
needed to structure this as an invitation only event.

7. I wonder what would happen....
...if the warehouses that hold these machines would suddenly ALL be inundated by an accidental triggering of the "sprinkler" systems the night before an election?
You think we wouild be forced to use Paper Ballots?
:hippie:

10. Neocons are well aware...
...that in order to stay in power they MUST continue to rig numerous elections. The only way to do that is to maintain control of the ballot box through their corporate GOP functionaries---Diebold, ES&S, Triad, Sequoia and a few others. Neocons will NEVER willfully give up control of secret vote processing---NEVER!!!
