Essex Cnty Task Force loses 6 month fight, Cnty picks Sequoia Advantage
The Task Force's 6 month fight to stop the purchase of Sequoia Advantage by Essex County is over. The County Freeholders voted 5 to 3 to purchase the Advantage DRE. Democratic Freeholders Gonzalez, Watson, Beasley, Jones and Sebold voted to purchase. Freeholder Jenkins was absent. Freeholders Caputo and Clarke voted no. Republican Freeholder Shore (R) also voted no.

It was evident from comments from the 5 Democrats that they intended to move to vote, The move was seconded and then the same 5 voted to purchase.

The vote comes right after the election. Never the less those Freeholders who voted no will run for re-election. IIRC at large terms are 3 years and district terms are 4 years. It seems obvious that the final vote was set up so we could not campaign against any votes to purchase.

Tonights vote was set up to occur after the election so that there could be no retribution prior to the election. SO the fix was in. If any of you think that the democratic party is complaisant, these events indicate that the county party machine was involved, deeply.

The party machine knows that DFA was a major component in the Task Force and could ex cerise some payback if the vote occurred before the election. What they didn't consider is that DFA has already taken over the chair of the party. That would be Howard Dean.

5 Essex County Freeholders may have just ended their political carrers
