Two-sided ballot! Fill out both sides!
I just voted - they handed me the ballot, and I only saw six propositions - I asked where the other two were - then I looked on the back and said "Oh, it's a two-sided ballot!"
Somebody was just about to put their ballot through the scanner and heard me, and went back and filled them out.

12. I don't think blocking a profile is reason for concern -
I haven't blocked mine, though my profile is pretty trim. I just err on the side of keeping information private online. I know that data miners have information about me even I don't have, but I'm not going to help. I share my personal info with other DU'ers via personal email if there is reason...

Just adding my 2-cents...

14. Because I don't believe in profiling.
A person should be judged by the content of their post,
not the gender, state, or hobbies listed in their profile.

Now please tell me - what is it about my post that bothers you so much?

9. That is so fucked up. I looked at the back of my ballot and it was empty.
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 04:26 PM by Ladyhawk
They were handing out permanent ink pens for marking ballots. Wouldn't that fuck up scanning of the other side if it were a 2-sided ballot?

On edit: I don't recall ever filling out a 2-sided ballot. Maybe it's just my county that never did that.

10. First time I saw one like that
which is why I wanted to draw attention to it.
They gave us ball-point pens.

13. Here's a news article about another district using double-sided ballots.
I am not making this up!

http://www.leesburg2day.com/current.cfm?catid=31&newsid=11292

<snip>

Price said voters need to be aware that the ballots are double sided this year because a local bond referendum has been split into nine separate questions, each requiring action by voters. That complication could also slow down the voting process and create back-ups as the polls near their traditional 7 p.m. closing time.

“The printer could not get all of the bond questions on the front of the ballot,” she said. “The election officers will remind the voters to flip the ballot over and continue voting on the back side.”

6. Are you a new California voter? Because it's always been that way
Ah, you're in an optical-scanner-voting precinct/district county?

I'm fortunate that here we still have the punch-type voting mechanisms. it's always been "punch one side, flip it & punch the other side."

11. Let me clarify that
Yes, these were optical scan ballots.
No, I'm not a new California voter.
I never saw a two-sided optical scan form before.
