Join the Midnight Fraud Squad for CA Special Election This Tuesday!
I was asked to extend this invitation to DUers: The main request is for in-person help election night in the San Francisco Bay Area, but read down for needs for "remote" assistance.

Want to join the Midnight Fraud Squad for the California Special?

Here's what's going on

-- Election-night access to a computer lab with four work stations, and table space for a half dozen more analysts with laptops

-- "Parallel election" teams in several CA counties will phone in precinct results comparing hand-counted paper to the official vapor

-- The "R" statistics package and someone who knows how to use it

-- Debut of the EFA program ("Election Fraud Analyzer") that reveals the third-party vote-robbing scheme that stole Florida in 2004

-- Whatever else you can bring to the party

What we need

Another half-dozen election sleuths with statistical chops, and laptops if you've got 'em.

If you've been tracking the polls, are versed in voter demographics, or have other relevant skills and knowledge, let us know.

What you'll be doing (Bring your big ideas. We're making this up as we go).

--Analyze vote patterns for the statewide propositions by county, machine type, voter registration, early voting, and more

--Run precinct analysis on the parallel election results looking for disparaties that defy probability

--We'll also run the EFA* on partisan races for office in any other states where DUers think there may be robberies in progress.

I'm aware that TIA has demo'ed a fraud analyzer, and if anyone reading this knows that program and is within driving distance, please join the party.

This Fraud Lab is in or around the East Bay. If you can't make the scene but have leads to share, please contact via the address below.

*EFA (Election Fraud Analyzer) is a set of formulas you can plug into Excel to analyze vote distributions relative to political party registrations. It works best with partisan races for office with multiple minor parties contending. The routine has also been written as a 24-line Perl script.
We're looking for websites to host the program either as a download or as a live web application, so if you're interested in writing an interface and hosting, let us know.
Anyone interested in trying out the program, or putting it on your website, please e-mail ca.voteraction@sbcglobal.net <mailto:%20ca.voteraction@sbcglobal.net> .

Why California's Election is so Special

With his own poll numbers plummeting as badly as Bush's, the Governator is plowing ahead with his highly unpopular Special Election and digging a hole in his ratings.
You have to wonder if Schwarzenegger isn't emboldened to persist with his union-busting, service-cutting, Pharma-payola, and Texas-style redistricting initiatives because he knows the vote's been fixed so he can't lose.

This is the last "paperless" election in California before VVPAT laws take effect in January 2006. Why not shoot the moon with DREs in 12 counties, since there won't be any way to recount the ballots and they'll never have this opportunity again?

Another situation ripe for fraud is Los Angeles County (with 24% of the state's votes) where Diebold celebrity product endorser and Registrar/Recorder Conny McCormack
has been promoting paperless DRE Early Voting with a $1 million ad campaign. There's no way to comply with the state's mandatory random hand recount of 1% of the precincts if the votes are on paperless DREs, but that's okay, Conny claims exemption from state law.

Oh, and they'll be processing absentee ballots with Diebold's "Vote Remote" automated signature-verifying/voter disenfranchising software that can be calibrated to reject as many voters from the wrong zip codes as the programmers think they can get away with.

4. Ohio! Ohio! Ohio! Please can you get the fraud squad to monitor
Ohio! There are 4 issues on the Tuesday election that the GOP is spending millions and millions of dollars to kill - because they would make elections accessible to all and much more fair. (The isses are shown below.) There is also a group of pastors that has been distributing pamphlets to their congregations saying that the issues are backed by liberals that want to steal elections from the GOP so that they can promote their anti-family laws. :grr:

J. Kenneth Blackwell has a central tabulator on his desk that can be used to 'correct' votes tallies coming in from the precincts - and there is good reason to suspect that tallies were changed last November and again in the race in which Paul Hackett ran for Congress a few months back.

The advocacy group working FOR them is Reform Ohio Now! <http://www.reformohionow.org/> - I cannot tell if they are taking the possibility of computer fraud seriously.

Issue 2: Makes it easier to vote by allowing all to vote by mail.

Issue 3: Helps stop the influence of big money in elections by greatly reducing campaign contributions.

Issue 4: Stops the politicians from drawing their own legislative districts and puts an Independent Commission in charge of this process.

Issue 5: Places a bi-partisan Board of Supervisors in charge of Ohio's elections, instead of a partisan official who backs candidates and takes sides in elections.

9. Dan - Check out posts from Skids & Alastair
Skids: URLs claiming results will be posted.... These are direct to Ohio results. Many counties are missing. In addition many counties report in more than one place -- it's always worth looking for more. If anyone finds a URL not listed here, please do post so I can add it to my list. This list is only a merge of a few indices -- not an exhaustive google search for each individual county. This list does not include media outlets. URLs claiming results will be posted.

Alastair: Ohio Has Gone Diebold With VVPT (allegedly) - Election Tues - WATCH NEEDED <http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x400272>
