Reform Ohio Now needs people to make phone calls this weekend !
I signed up this morning and just got my list of 25 Ohioans to call and encourage to go vote in favor of Issues 2, 3, 4, 5. You don't have to be from Ohio. You can be from anywhere and make these calls - you just have to be willing to take the time.

From the Reform Ohio Now website:

Make calls to Ohio voters about Issue 2, 3, 4 & 5!

This coming Tuesday, November 8, Ohio voters will go to the polls to decide on a historic series of election reforms. Even if you can't make it to one of our target counties, we definitely need your help getting out the vote. Be a part of our virtual phonebank!

Our opposition is spending millions on a TV smear campaign filled with misinformation, but with the help each and every volunteer like you, we can win this vote. Can you make a few calls to Ohio voters?

We're asking everyone to commit to making 25 calls between Saturday and Monday. No experience necessary! It couldn't be simpler:

* A RON staffmember will email you your call list and call script

* You'll be calling to urge people to vote YES on Issues 2, 3, 4 & 5--your call script will tell you exactly what to say

* Each call will average less than 5 minutes

* You can make your calls anytime between Saturday morning and Monday evening

3. I've signed up TWICE and nobody's contacted me.

I don't think there's a coordinator in Shelby county. I even contacted the DNC person in my town, and she didn't know about any volunteer efforts.

I suppose I can just print up some stuff and start making the rounds, but a phone list would be better.

On Edit: It looks like they beefed up their website since last time I checked. I think I can get it set up ok now.

Thanks for the reminder!

9. Yeah, rucky!
By the way - do you know the child in the pic? That had to be photoshopped, or at least posed right?

4. Even if you don't live in Ohio, you can phone-canvas
I would surely appreciate it. I have been door-to-door canvassing, as this is my home.

5. I canvassed for R.O.N. but will not make calls. We have been getting
4 calls a day, including 2 during Sunday dinner. If my husband and I are irritated by it and we are both volunteers and donated money to the effort, considerable how the average voter feels. We found this to be true last fall with the Kerry campaign. People were so inundated with calls they were getting p-o-ed. The phone coordination has not been good.

8. I am afraid of invading privacy with calls, too -

I don't like get calls that are trying to sell me something, especially. Since calling is the only thing I can do (besides donating) for Ohio - I am taking the risk.

12. Let us know what you see --
Amy said that 50 people showed up today to canvas door-to-door. I don't think you can hit 10,000 doors a day with 50 people... Whoever you can reach can then reach out to others just in casual contact.
