NC needs help! Critical election reform stuck in committee
Also posted in NC forum, but that forum is very slow.

Urgent - help us get the Verified Voting bills out of committee!

We have contacted you in recent weeks about The Confidence in Voting bills introduced in the North Carolina legislature (Senate Bill 2231 and House Bill 2382), which will require a voter verified paper trail for all voting equipment as well as other important reforms.

*The bills have not yet moved through the committee process in either chamber.

*As one of our petition signers, we know you care deeply about this issue. We need your help to spread the word to trigger grassroots interest in these critical election reform bills all over North Carolina so that we can turn up the pressure on our legislators to get moving on these bills.
Our legislators need to know that we are watching their progress and we need to inform other North Carolinians about why this is so important for our state. One of the best ways to pressure lawmakers and educate the public is to write a letter to the editor and have it published in your local newspaper. So, if we all send letters to our local newspaper editors throughout North Carolina and get them published in communities all across the state, it would give an invaluable boost to our lobbying efforts for election reform. But don't worry if you've never written one before - we have provided instructions, and then you are only a click away from sending your letter to the largest newspapers in North Carolina:

Please send your letter today. While we have provided some sample text, you must add your own thoughts about why this legislation is so important. We have included bullet points and other pertinent information as talking points for election reform. Once you have personalized your letter, you can choose which of North Carolina's eight largest papers to send it to. This will take less than ten minutes of your time, but if your letter is published, you could help inform hundreds or thousands of North Carolinians about this critical election reform.

The Legislative session will end in July, so the upcoming month of June is critical at the state capitol and we need to make sure that these bills pass. Lawmakers have begun to hear us, but a groundswell of support generated by these letters to the editor can make a strong push.

Lastly, please remember that the most effective way to generate support for these election reform bills is to get everyone in your community involved. Please tell your friends, family and co-workers in North Carolina to sign the petition by going to:

When we present the petition to North Carolina lawmakers, we need to show we have strong support across the state. We've got a great start, but we can do even better. Please ask five people you know to sign it.

Thank you for all you do for election reform in North Carolina. We are making great change and you are critical to this effort.

Sincerely,

Bob Phillips
