Kerry and the DNC should support voter confidence efforts
Even if Kerry and the DNC think the election outcome is legitimate, that's no reason not to support voter confidence efforts. They have money for recounts. Let them state that they don't have evidence of fraud if they want to, but are using some of this money to reduce suspicions of fraud by some of their supporters.

Some of that money came from me and from others like me who want recounts to happen just so we can see if there was any fraud. My willingness to give in the future depends on them helping with these efforts.

3. I second that....
they need to be accountable to us, the voters. And what could be more important than the sanctity of the ballot? If they don't represent us first and foremost in that, there is no representation for anything else.

4. Very good idea - some complete handcounts of random precincts that used

opti-scan would go a long way to ease my mind.
If Kerry has any idea at all of winning in 2008 he'd better do something.

5. My willingness to support any democratic candidate in the future
depends on the DNC and Kerry's support of our efforts to make sure that this was a fair & legal election.

If they can't support the count the vote efforts and the battle for a paper audit trail -- then how can we be sure that the next dem candidate will fold too soon again?

How many of the elected dems are DINOs?

6. "Voter confidence" - excellent term
It is nonpartisan and keeps away the "conspiracy theorist" labels they try to pin on anyone who wants standardized voting with a paper trail.

What would additionally help is if some Republicans, Libertarians, etc. (esp. programmers, statisticians, and others who can show how easily the vote can be tampered with) would be willing to stand up with us on this issue.
