Conyers:You Are Invited to Participate in My First Ever Web Chat Tues 3 PM
From ConyersBlog: http://www.conyersblog.us

You Are Invited to Participate in My First Ever Web Chat -- Tuesday, May 10, 3 PM ET
Special Guest -- Louise Slaughter

You are cordially invited to participate in a first ever live online chat with Congressman Louis Slaughter, Ranking Democrat on the House Rules Committee, and me on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, beginning at 3:00 p.m. eastern time and ending at approximately 4:00 p.m. (Questions will be accepted earlier however.) The “chat” is being hosted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. To join in on the chat simply go to: http://www.democraticaction.org. Please feel free to pass this information along to any friends, colleagues, and family (and encourage them to sign up for my newsletter at my web site at johnconyers.com – you should as well if you have not already done so!).

Tuesday afternooon’s on-line chat will be a revolutionary event where two of the leading Democrats in the House pool their resources and expertise to interact with you to respond to your concerns and questions. Among the topics that I expect will come up include the Ohio presidential election and election reform, the Jeff Gannon scandal, the recent disclosure that Bush agreed to go to war in the summer of 2002 before they even bothered asking for authority, the Schiavo case and the Republican assault on the judiciary, Bush’s attempted rip off of the Social Security System, the various additional abuses and misuses of power by the GOP Majority, the upcoming legislative agenda, and the state of the Democratic Party.

Look forward to hearing from you Tuesday afternoon.

9. This is GREAT!
If I can't make it, will someone please ask what we can do to get Rush Holt's bill HR550 (flawed though it may be) out of the Rules Committee and onto the floor, so we can hopefully do away with paperless e-voting forever?

Thanks!

14. Will someone who will be awake at 9 EDT post Q's for me?
I'm on the west coast and hope to be sleeping at that time. In case they use a "first come, first served" system, would you ask:

My top question is:
What is being done to investigate and call to justice those individuals and organizations who interfered with the 2004 elections? In what form is your investigation into the 2004 presidential election proceeding, Representative Conyers, and will it extend to the massive problems beyond the state of Ohio?

Second question, if you can:
Are there any laws that prohibit a person who is deemed to have been installed into an office for which they were not duly elected to be removed from that office when the election problems are discovered? If not, isn't it time to have such a law?

Third question:
Will there be opportunity during the chat for additional questions or comments from the "audience?"

Thanks much!

If requested, you may use my name:
Emily Levy

18. emlev! - first Question out of the Block!....
emlev

Rep. Conyers: First, I want to thank every one for participating. In terms of the wrongdoing, we have asked GAO to investigate, the DOJ, and state law enforcement officials in Ohio. We have not gotten any satisfactory responses as of yet, but we will continue to pursue the matter. Your help and tips have been helpful, and we are trying to get the media to cover these stories as well. We have also demanded hearings from the Judiciary Committee in the House. So far, they have been stalling. We have also begun to investigate irregularities in all 50 states and we will compile them all, just as we did with Ohio. I want to thank everyone who gave information for my Ohio report and I would like anyone with any information about irregularities in Ohio or any other State to contact me with that information.
