20. Press Conference was at 1:00 p.m. Bev was there w/Nader.

I haven't heard any details yet, and am waiting anxiously by the telephone. A $2000 check must be delivered to the Sec of State's office by Friday, along with some "proof" or "plan" or something of future payment; I gave the "top precincts" I want checked to Kevin yesterday (Nader's spokesman). The regular recount (for those who turned their money and stuff in last week) started today. As soon as the check and money plan are received, the Presidential recount begins.

Oh, and I was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal Online today, while the LA Weekly used the press release another DUer wrote for me. :)

How many different way's are we going to go about this? Since last year we had Blackboxvoting.org sounding the warnings and helping people get involved like here in California where the secretary of state banned some of the paperless voting machines! We need to concentrate our best shot where it will count the most where will this money go or will it just be a diversion of precious funds? there is very little info on that web page I would recommend getting them to put up a statement that show who will get the funds and also see if they can get Bev Harris to endorse it? Just a thought but I'm still vary wary of wolves in sheep's clothing out there!

The website needs to state who these people are and who they are backed by.

The links all need to work.

I'm ready to donate money to serious efforts -- I'd at least like to see serious efforts being made on their website. May sound snotty, but the general population will not get behind an organization if it even remotely looks shady.

33. The recount is not just about this election - it is about the future

of our republic. It is not about repugs and democrats - it is about the process. A process that is supposed to reflect the will of the people. Right now at least 50% of the population does not believe in the process, thus they can't believe in their country. To continue to pursue bringing down the corporate hacks that control our ballots is to teach a badly needed civics lesson to all citizens.

Further, it is an act of patriotism to demand a clean process for counting every single vote.

34. Bev Harris Urges us to Donate to HAR!

Bev Harris was on Air America's 'Unfiltered' show today and broke the story that she, in affiliation with the Help America Recount Fund, is "Using a little-known provision in Ohio law, any five Ohioans who did not vote for the winning candidate can file for recounts. In Florida, citizens can file to contest the election, county by county. Black Box Voting researchers are helping to identify key counties with the worst anomalies, for hand counts and other audits, to detect computer intrusions and vote count discrepancies."

When asked if an Ohio recount would change the outcome of the election in favor of Kerry, Bev Harris said, "If the recount proves that he won Ohio, indeed it would."

Ms. Harris telling us that THIS IS THE PLACE TO SPEND OUR MONEY right now if we want to see a possible turnaround of this election! Each precint costs $10, and a total hand recount would involve some $115,000, but she said they are focusing their efforts on the most suspect counties first, going precinct to precinct. She also said that we have a window of between this Friday and next (Nov. 13 - 19) to get this process in place in order to halt the process of certifying the Ohio election.

John Kerry could still be ackowledged as the winner of this election. It appears that the optical scan machines in Ohio, which count ballots and send the data to highly-insecure central tabulating computers, could be the main issue in that state. A HAND recount of the votes could very well expose the fraud that occurred there. So, I ask you to PLEASE spread the word on this.

This could be the silver bullet we've been looking for that could bring this thing crashing down around the Bush Administration and save American Democracy. If this recount shows proof of tampering, not only would the election go to Kerry (and perhaps leading to turnovers of other senate and house races), but the American election system would be henceforth be revolutionized, the Republican Party and their backers would be thoroughly discredited perhaps for decades, and the media would be forced to reevaluate their four years of Neo-Conservative pandering in the face of public activism and change their bias. Everytone, stick with it and please help Help America Count raise the money they need!
