I had a cracked rib, OUCH, and then I was in Fla-la-la. The weather was so beautiful I didn't want to come back, had no computer or cable at my little house to communicate with the KOEB. What's this I read, we are moving to our new home in DU Group starting Friday?

How's by you?

today? And you were in charge of bringing the extra mildicide to put into the paint for the bathrooms? Hello??

Whatddaya mean I didn't tell ya? I...I mean I...didn't I, that one time, say dude, painting's Monday? No?

Well, it came out killer! And besides man, I think this place is gonna end up covered in band stickers and duct tape like CBGBs anyway.

And word: our bathrooms are gonna stay WAY cleaner than theirs.

65. Oh...well, that's alright then.
Plenty of oak involved, I trust?

Apparently, some people are going to be surprised by the quality of the sound system.

I have a special console, to choose between certain amusical but highly motivational dimensions:

Get your _______ on.

The buttons read:

Funk.
Groove.
Game.
Asbestos suit.
Clothes back.
Video camera.
Eye patch.
Snark.
Victory shoes.

It allows me to fine-tune the music according the the mood.

115. Now this is a significant question that deserves careful consideration
What KOEB job title should our bleever have? He does so many things, and his eye STILL isn't completely recovered from that untimely meetup with the flying bodice snap through the keyhole.

So he certainly should be VIDEO RECORDIST

But he does so many other things too! Hmmmmm.... This needs some deliberation....

Ah--WOOOOOOOOOO! to you to.

Sheridan is a little under the weather. :( He has a bit of an ear problem and with me being out of work, I can't afford to take him to the Vet's. I've been using some home rems and so far he's ok, but if it gets bad I may just have to take the hit and go. I'm praying it gets better.

Hubcaps.

I think we need a jukebox, even if it's only a stereo cabinet with the lighting benefits.

And obviously there has to be a place for lariats on the wall.

Other elements?

168. you city people never stray far from home, do ya?
Hwy 26 goes from Oshkosh to Waupun, then to Watertown and Fort Atkinson (my hometown). It's my favorite route to Whitewater. Lots of cows and Dairy Aire to smell.

I can drive in from I-43, or cut across to 41 (which, I'm guessing, would be a bit closer to your part of town).

A PM would be nice, but a Gouda-Gram would be splendid! :7

114. Yes, the Japan train wreck is a horror.
In that country, almost EVERYONE commutes to work every day, many of them on commuter trains. It's too expensive to live in the city unless they've inherited property from parents, so they live out of town where it is cheaper. So in addition to the trauma to the families that were involved directly, so many will be thinking "that could have been me and could still be me next time."

163. Yeah, the situation was pretty clearly explained in the news clip
about the majority of Japanese being commuters.

As one of the 1/2 of 1 percent of Americans who actually commutes to work rather than driving myself, I can relate. (OK, so maybe it's more than 1/2 of 1 percent but it sure doesn't feel like it most of the time.)

171. Yes, and they leave behind their wives and children
...and most of those wives will not have worked at a job. Unless there have been some MAJOR changes, child care in japan is much less available than here. Women were (when I was there as a postdoc student long ago) expected to be subservient and pretty much confined to home. The commuting husbands I knew at the University never saw their children except on the weekends, actually mostly on Sunday since they also worked most of Saturday. By the time they would get home from the daily commute, all the children would be in bed. Imagine the loneliness of the women.

And now there will be no one to come home at all. I hope the government or the train company or both at least sees to their support.

And I wondered if Will Pitt might be there - he has lived in Cambridge, though he spends a lot of tme in DC. And who knows who else I didn't even realize was local.

Why not just call the mom and say, "your kid acted out today in the following ways". If it's a serious ongoing problem, then counseling or a transfer to a special class/school may be in order, but calling the cops makes zero sense, unless the cop being called is Mom.

62. Was anyone else seriously freaked
when that tiger guy grabbed that big tiger's jaw in his own? What the...? That was at least as bizarre as the whole breastfeeeding story!

And leave it to Keith to ask the question everyone else wanted to know the answer to: uh, when does this stop? Before teething begins, we can only hope!

His name was freaky and the whole thing was freaky. And yes, that would indeed be the optimal time for her to stop, IMHO. :)

Wasn't his name something like Magnus Magnusson? Does he moonlight as one of the Strongest Man in the World contestants?

82. Actually that guy is fairly famous
for his animal handling, specifically big cats.

When Animal Planet did their very first "King of the Jungle" reality show(before they brought in some whack-jib who mucked it up) this guy was their animal handler and fans of the show got to chat with him on-line.

What he did is something a mother would do to her cub to control it.

56. You know, I have to say
I would not want to be a Teacher or School Administrator in this country. While I don't have kids I have to say Parents have really taken control out of the hands of these people.

When mommy or daddy's little "darlin" acts out at school and these people can't touch a child what can they do? That's not fair to any Teacher or School Admin. They need to be able to discipline(within reason) any child. I mean--JEEZ--that little girl was slapping and hitting that woman, climbing on tables, knocking things over--just totally out of control.

Now I think handcuffing her was wrong, but if Mom says they can't touch her "little darlin" what are they suppose to do. The Mom took all options they might have used to get cntrol of the situation.

Personally, I think if a child of 5 is acting that way, it indicates she is in need of some help.

69. Oh, I agree entirely, the kid's a little hellion, but...
...they should be able to handle the situation without resorting to three cops with handcuffs, is all. I think.

The mother sounds like a piece of work. Sounds like she wanted to set the whole thing up precisely so the school would overreact, she could get video of it, then sell it exclusively to some sleazoid tabloid show and make a mint. Now *that* is sick.

97. Tired, but not bad.
I got to sleep in this morning. Yesterday was fairly exhausting (I shared Mom's stuff with both congregations). They were so supportive, we were all crying and hugging and loving one another. Tonight, I had a pastor-parish meeting, and we discussed possible family-leave time. This was their idea - they're concerned about me!
(and that's a big deal - not all churches support their pastor.)

Mom's feeling better; and my sister-in-law is back home from Camp Iodine and doing very good. Oh yeah, I just gave Roo some more babyfood. He is enjoying all the attention. :)

Glad your mom is feeling better, and that s-i-l is back and doing ok. Spoiled and attention are good for Roo but don't make the other kitties jealous.

Here's a quote from my collection:

The best cure for worry, depression, melancholy, brooding, is to go deliberately forth and try to lift with one's sympathy the gloom of somebody else. -Arnold Bennett, novelist (1867-1931)

He's got a point, but he also misses one - the importance of keeping your own energy up first.

And it's good for you to know they care enough about you to be talking about family leave. That's a real community you got there. Wish the RW fundies could take a few pointers in what it's SUPPOSED to be all about!

195. Time to give Gizmo
his last feeding of the day, so going to say goodnight and watch the end of the show while feeding the spoiled lil guy with a baby spoon.
Have a goodnight all and sweet dreams when you go. (Don't be talking in your sleep Whirls)
