4. Hypocrite.
"Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell announced yesterday he is removing the entire Lucas County board of elections because of problems stemming from the November election..."

He should remove himself if he is so concerned about election improprieties. Of course we all know pigs will fly before that happens.

DOWNTOWN TOLEDO
Thieves hit Democratic Party offices; computers containing sensitive data removed

By ROBIN ERB
BLADE STAFF WRITER

Thieves shattered a side window overnight at Lucas County Democratic headquarters in Toledo, stealing computers with sensitive campaign information and triggering concern of the local party's ability to deliver crucial votes on Nov. 2.
Among the data on the stolen computer of the party's office manager were: e-mails discussing campaign strategy, candidates' schedules, financial information, and phone numbers of party members, candidates, donors, and volunteers.

Also taken were computers belonging to Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak and to a Texas attorney working with the Kerry/Edwards presidential campaign to ensure election security.

The thefts have prompted the Kerry/Edwards campaign and Democrats in Washington to offer help and have left local officials fretting about the crime's impact on the upcoming election, in which Ohio plays a high-profile role.

Not that this got much play on MSM. I remember it, but I'm from this area, so it stayed with me (I live in Cincinnati now) Also -- Lucas was one of the last counties to certify its votes (on December 1st). ( http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041202/NEWS09/412020398 )

8. Very interesting
thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Yeah he is probably trying to get set up for his run for governor and stuff like that or like someone else said, someone is asking simple questions so he is getting rid of them.

9. What is he hiding?
Of course we already know.

But how long can he hide it?

And isn't this just like the Riddler trying to protect himself by laying off the flunkies in the matching question mark t-shirts?

Stay tuned.

15. Yep
This is another clue. If he didn't steal the election for Bush along with the Diebold president guy then he wouldn't be firing these people. He would go to court and do a lie dector test.

10. Fall guys (and gals)? Hmmm...I don't think so, Mr. B
I don't think that's gonna do it, Blackwell. The people who are hounding your corrupt ass aren't going to fall for this shit. YOU are the one who needs to go. Getting a few 'resignations' may work in the court of public opinion for most political scandals, but the general public isn't paying attention to this one (YET). The people you need to worry about aren't giving up until YOU are exposed.

Oh, and good luck with your run for Governor. It's a great idea to draw more attention to yourself and give the press a reason to investigate all your shady bizness.

Heh.

:spray:

way to go meganmonkey!

You do know his wife has just been elected Superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools, right? Only in a closed door session...

While she does have experience (and has served as interim superintendent 2 times), I found it pretty strange that it was no-public-involved-closed-door session.... think they were just trying to avoid people trashing hubby?

They're running scared. They're in the "fighting us" stage now. I hope they keep the perssure on. How much longer can they hide?

13. good question. either back-door deals, "contracts" signed saying
that they are leaving under their own free will, or other legal wranglings.... If this happens in a few more counties, we'll see.

I found it interesting that he did this in the aftermath of 2000 as well. As my personal theory about Ohio revolves around the huge amount of precincts that were merged both before the 2000 elections and before the 2004 elections, I wonder what kind of turnouts those districts received that lost their entire BOE staff... (I just read about this in the Toledo Blade articles today, so I haven't had time to look at anything else).
