Does anyone know what happened to RaulVB of DU?
He was such a prolific poster. Suddenly he disappeared. He's not in the profiles anymore, so he's apparently not just on vacation from us. I'm trying to figure out if he followed through with something he said he'd do. Can anyone shed light on this?

1. I enjoyed reading his posts...
...but it seems like I remember that his profile was gone before he was. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

4. A poor disruptor seems like not much of a distraction...
it's the skilled disruptors that cause more problems, isn't it?

Interesting, though...

12. I wonder who he's talking about.
"I was told that I was making 'too much drama' about the 'Democratic Senators' who decided to sponsor torture in the USA." --RaulVB

I think we kicked up quite a lot of "drama" here at DU over the 6 traitor Democrats who voted for torture-memo writer Alberto Gonzales--and the 3 who didn't bother to vote, and how they prevented the Dem Senators from doing a filibuster. I can't imagine DU monitors being bothered by that. Their vote was outrageously bad. And I often scorch Democratic leaders here for their corruption and collusion, and their horrendous failures (on the Iraq war vote, and on the election system for 2004, for instance). So do others here.

Here are the BAD DEMOCRATS' names by the way:

Voted for Gonzales

MARY LANDRIEU-LA
KEN SALAZAR-CO
MARK PRYOR-AR
BILL NELSON-FLA
JOSEPH LIEBERMAN-CT
BEN NELSON-NE

Didn't show up to vote

Max Baucus of MT
Kent Conrad of MD
Daniel Inouye of HI

They should never be forgiven for that vote--or failure to vote--and should be targeted for defeat.

(On Inouye, I'd like to hear an explanation. His failure to vote surprised me, he's a lifelong liberal, and from a very Democratic state, but he is old and lives far away. Possibly there is an innocent reason he wasn't there. They needed four more votes for a filibuster.)

So, why is RaulVB gone? I liked his posts, too.

14. Considering he was tomb-stoned, I'd guess the undertaker
RVB's heat to light ratio was suffering during that time.

I felt really bad about it because from a human right's perspective, Abu Gharib is on a top five list of suffering caused by this admin. I can see somone really being upset.

But I felt bad for the Admins., too. That whole scene was filling the windshield and blocking the view.

21. He started about 6 threads within a couple hours in this forum
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 08:38 PM by meganmonkey
about the Gonzales confirmation - they were very repetitive and got locked one after the other. I remember watching it happen - and then he was gone...My guess is the mods/admin tried to communicate with him and he wasn't cooperative? He was very upset and passionate about that issue.

I think those particular threads got deleted - I can't find them on advanced search, but here are some similar ones. He was especially pissed off that Lieberman, as a Jewish person, would vote for a torturer...

on edit: I think what put admin over the edge is that he kept starting new threads about the same thing rather than having a discussion in one thread...just speculating. It was really wierd.

11. Hey, I miss Raul as well.
We're all under so much pressure, the blow ups, the real ones not disruptor induced, are tricky to surf.

It'll work out. There's too many right-headed people here for this kind of thing to stand. We all just need some air and some time.

15. Here's a guess
Some of Raul's posts sure sounded like he had the inside scoop on John Kerry. I asked him twice if he *was* John Kerry, and he didn't answer.

Maybe he got tombstoned because he really is JK and JK has acted so dead the admins thought he really was?

17. He's either still looking for "Blondie",
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 04:08 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
or giving that poor old armourer a hard time. I told him not to ambush him at the Oscars, as it was too dangerous, even for him; and anyway it was Bushco who twisted Blondie's mind and that he should go gunning for them. Which he seems to have been doing to some purpose on here, eh! Hay que volver companero.

20. emlev,
Tuco is a Mexican bad man - actually, the Ugly one - in the Spaghetti Western, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

"Blondie" was the nickname given to the character played by Clint Eastwood, who was actually no angel, either (despite the words of the official "Bad" man to an old crone ).

In one scene, Tuco goes into a gunshop, gets the old boy who owns it to show him various pistols, and tries the one he likes on a range out the back. Instead of paying him, he takes all the money he has in the shop, and as a parting gesture of goodwill, takes the "Closed" sign from behind the window in the front door and places it in the old boy's mouth.

Tuco is the archetypal Mexican bandido, who laughs maniacally at the thought of someone being mad enough to double-cross him: "Anyone who double-crosses Tuco, doesn't know Tuco!", etc. A great character, played by Eli Wallach, with extremely expressive eyes in terms of mockery, considering how beady they are!

Another of his great lines, is delivered when someone out to kill him finally catches up with him, while he's taking a bath in a tub. Tuco's would-be killer gibbers away to him, crowing at the fact he's finally getting to kill him, when Tuco shoots him with his pistol, which he had concealed in the water: "If you're going to shoot, shoot! Don't talk!"

Of course, if that happened in thrillers, the good guys would seldom survive. Also, of course, if the aims of the bad guys were not so unbelievably poor.

is a war crime--especially when you take photos It has allowed our administration to take their rightful place beside the "legacy carriers" fascist regimes of the twentieth century.
