This is just a little side note to our little primary last evening in our little town. It did not affect the outcome. The only reason that I post this here is to highlight the need to continue the fight going on here. There MUST be paper records. These are optical scanners.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- No one stole the election here Tuesday night, but someone apparently did filch a machine that tabulates votes.

The incident occurred after polls closed at 7 p.m. CST. Three election workers, closing up a polling place at a school, left the machine in the trunk of a car, only to find it missing a little later, according to Shawnee County Election Commissioner Elizabeth Ensley.

Without the tabulator, Ensley said, her staff had to take the receipt and punch its total into her office's computer system by hand.

"This is a first for me," she said.

Why would someone want a tabulator? :shrug:

I can think of a few reasons, and none of them are very reassuring!
