Bush visit bringing freedom and liberty to Germany..NOT
A friend forwarded an email from her American Aunt that married a German. They currently reside in Bonn, Germany but have lived in the US when her husband worked for NATO in the 80's.

Hi XXX,

How much did you get to hear in the news about Bush's visit to
Germany? He says he brings freedom and liberty, but the city of
Mainz was yesterday in a state of emergency.
Schools, kindergartens and stores were closed for the day.
Opel automobile factory stopped 2 shifts.
Trains, trams, buses, river barges, and all air traffaic were
halted.
The autobahn around Mainz was blocked.
All trash containers and parked cars were removed from routes
which might be taken by Bush.
Gully lids were soldered closed.
10 000 Police were on duty in Mainz.

His visit upset the normal lives of thousands upon thousands of
people. You can imagine that he wasn't at all welcomed. Does he
ever ask himself why he needs so much security? Is this a form of
freedom and liberty? Or did you hear anything about this side of
the story?

Oh well, enjoy the full moon tonight.

Love, XXXXX

2. Fox News said bush did not have to face demonstrators during his trip.
Last night around 7:00 PM EST - can't remember which show it was one, but I was shocked to hear that.

3. Correct,
they were kept far away by the SS.

I was disgusted to hear a few of the words Bushitler was spouting about FreedomDemocracyTranparentGovernmentBullShit. Had to leap for the Mute button and ask myself when we would bring Democracy to America?

6. A second email from Mainz entitled 'tomatoes'
Hi XXXX,

What I didn't include in my list of restrictions imposed on the citizens of the Mainz and surroundings, is the fact that no one who lives along an expected path of Bush's tour (and there were a number of different roads considered so that his actual route would be secret) none of these people were allowed to even stand along the street nor on their balcony. The city was DEAD. A group from Green Peace managed to launch a boat into the Rhine just as Bush and Co. were crossing the bridge within sight. Their protest banner was ripped down by the police almost immediately. I'm sure many Germans were mentally throwing rotten tomatoes and worse at the US president.

There were demonstrations, but none were allowed within miles of Bush.

Have a nice Sunday. We have a cold rain, trying to snow, so we're staying inside for a change.

Love,
XXXX
