The Republican Contradiction about Their "Mandate"
They say they won because of "moral values" or the "war on terrorism". If we were to accept that assumption, then how could they say they have a "mandate" to privatize Social Security and all these other things they want to do? If the people voted them in for specific issues, how do they include other issues that people may have disagreed with and include those in their "mandate"??

2. 36/34/30
What mandate? If there are 270 million people in the country and 110 million are under the age of 18, them 38% of Americans supported Bush, 34% Kerry (according to current returns) and 30% supported neither. It looks like the MAJORITY of Americans (64%) doesn't care for Bush.

3. I think their theory is,
If you didn't vote, you don't count...

At least that seems to be how they're approaching it...

4. This is exactly like the Contract with America that they pulled out of

thin air in 1994.

People voted for Republicanite Congresscritters because of some vague belief that it was "time for a change" or from having been influenced by the VRWC's Clinton-bashing industry.

None of the candidates mentioned that they were really campaigning on cutting social programs to fund prison construction, abstinence-only sex education, getting rid of PBS and Amtrak, or requiring losers of lawsuits to pay all legal expenses.

They did not publicize the "Contract on America" until after the election.

5. Mandate My Ass
Mandate My Ass
Mandate This
Like the no smoking sign XMandateX

All kidding aside, I agree with you.

With an approval rating at 47% (much lower than the alleged 51% of votes they got), how do they figure they have a mandate to do anything???

A.

6. There is no mandate
But in Shrubs world all he has to do is say something and because he is the chosen one his sheep will follow.
And then if they hear any oppostion they will react with viciousness and try to supress it.

We should post every day that "Shrub does not have a mandate".
