Machine that ate 4,500 NC votes fails test in Pennsylvania
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 11:49 PM by WillYourVoteBCounted
Unilect machines ate 4,500 votes in Carteret County NC
and were tied to a 10% undervote rate in Burke County NC.

Here is Pennsylvania dealing with them -

Unilect can't even get their machines to work correctly when they are demonstrating them to the county board that is mad at how they worked (or not) in Nov.

"HARRISBURG -- Until 2 p.m. yesterday, Jack Gerbel's demonstration of his UniLect touch screen voting system was going smoothly. Then, suddenly, the screen froze up, unresponsive to numerous finger-pokes from Gerbel and a bystander.

"It's worked fine up to this point," Gerbel said, faintly flustered,
fiddling with wires.

Minutes later, the UniLect system was back online, tabulating mock votes correctly, working just the way it's supposed to."

2. I had a car that acted like that once.
Didn't trust it, either.

3. in NC, elections are decided by a game of "chicken"
lemon laws for these danged things.

North Carolina didn't get crap out of Unilects screw up.

The Agri Commissioner was decided by a game of Chicken.
Cobb blinked first.
