This is how responsive "my" senator is -- sheesh.....
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 07:53 PM by Blue_In_AK
Back in January after the initial "Boxer rebellion" on the Ohio electors, I sent the following letter to "my" senator Lisa Murkowski regarding my concerns about election "irregularities."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=272962&mesg_id=272962

Finally today I get this response:

Dear *:

Thank you for sharing your views with me on privating portions of the Social Security system. I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.

In recent years, the future of the Social Security system is an issue that has received considerable attention from Congress, the Administration, and the general public. In 1945, ten years after the Social Security Act was created nearly 42 workers were paying into the system for every recipient. Today, this figure has fallen to only 3 workers for every recipient. If this trend continues, the Social Security Trust Fund will be depleted within a few decades.

Although there are no quick and easy solutions to the Social Security system dilemma, it is Congress' duty to deliberate all options, including the possibility of creating personal retirement accounts and privatizing portions of Social Security. While the idea of allowing individuals to invest a portion of their Social Security taxes in private securities has become a popular alternative to today's system, we must be certain these reforms do not jeopardize the financial stability of the current program or the retirements of those already dependent upon it.

It is incumbent on Congress to preserve the Social Security system for future generations to rely upon. Should the Senate consider any changes to the Social Security Act in the 109th Contress, I will be sure to have your concerns in mind. Again, thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely, Lisa Murkowski

HELLO????? TALK ABOUT NONRESPONSIVE. I guess I'm going to have to send it to her again with a cover letter asking her to please pay attention to what I was writing about. I guess one thing it shows is that she's had so much correspondence about the social security thing that she's been required to draft up a form letter to make us all think that she's dealing with it.

These people amaze me.

2. Canned letter
someone pushed the wrong button and generated the wrong response. Probably didn't have one for election irregularities, so just gave you the next most popular.

22-year old staffers run our entire government.

3. It happens all the time
call the office or write a SCATHING letter about how they didn't respond to your letter. I'm sure the letters are all circular filed.

5. One of mine did this too, I'm sorry to say.

Write back and make them feel like this obvious computer error is EXACTLY the kind of thing you don't want to happen with voting machines! If a Senate staffer can screw up, anyone can if there's no way to verify the choice.

I'd print this out, and print your new letter on the other side of the page just to show them the faux pas. Send it by snail mail!

11. Thanks, Bill.
It was with your encouragement that I wrote this letter in the first place, and I thought it was a damn fine letter, too. Too bad nobody read it.

6. They are all sending us "canned" letter's at this point.
I am actually a little encouraged by that. I agree I think that means they are overwhelmed. I keep hearing them say the same things we are discussing here though so they are hearing us. The Boxer Rebellion is getting louder every day! I hope American's are listening and I think they are if my Republican friend of the family is any indication. His emails are getting more and more desperate by the day. Every time I debunk his BS he finds another even MORE ridiculous and easily debunked piece of crap to email me! I can feel it, he is on the ropes, as is his party. They are CONSTANTLY making statements that can be EASILY countered. The TRULY sore loser's are becoming more evident by the day!

9. Yes ! I think they got very bolstered by the Iraqi election though
you could hear the collective "phew" But unfortunately, for those poor Iraqi people, the election euphoria will blow over too. We will know we have gotten to them when we hear, "Well Kerry couldn't have done any better."

10. If you are listening to C-Span today. I think it already has blown over.

IMHO it is ONLY the thugs that haven't recognized this yet. I have seen reports daily of the escalation of bombings and the HORRIBLE state Iraq is in right now on my MSM local news station. Is anyone else seeing this?

Thugs thought they owned the world for a while but their tower of lies is falling down around them! They sound like they realize they are screwed. Eventually they will start eating their own. I can see it, hear it, and taste it coming!

On Edit: My bandaid is getting in the way of my typing and my usual typos are exceptionally horrid!

8. P.S. It pisses me off that you can't communicate with anyone
anymore. They probably won't read us mail (anthrax). Maybe Fax is the best
