2004 Election Results Compared to Average IQ
Anybody seen this?

http://daemlich.net/2941

I'm not sure if the average IQ by state data is legitimate (see the note at the bottom of the graph), but it sounds about right to me.

1. Is that the one that says the dumber half of the country

2. I saw this a few days ago...
...and was also wondering if it was legit. I don't see why a list like this couldn't be compiled; it's one of the many things a census could illustrate.

17. Didn't this come from a racist originally?
I don't think this chart should be given all that much credibility.

Wasn't it was originally created to "explain" the poverty of African-Americans?

Using this chart just seems wrong.

4. That is one of the most interesting things that I have seen lately.
Oh my, what does the rest of the world think of us?

5. Sorry, that's just silly.
Two of the most educated guys I know, with very high IQs, are total freepers. Hard to believe for those of you who like this to be all about smart vs. dumb, but it's more complicated than that.

Plus if we alienated all the dems who live in the south by calling them DUMB, we'd never win another election.

13. Oh, fer cripes sake. I'm just saying that calling repubs DUMB
while often, often true, is over-simplifying the issue.

Some are selfish assholes, I should have addded.

14. I'm a bit testy today (sick, tired, etc).
But anyway, I think the point is valid anyway. I believe that the vast majority of Bush voters are not "conservative", but rather are kind of simple/ignorant and follow the Boosh oversimplification of the issues rather than take the effort to understand the somewhat more complicated (but more informed) Kerry/Edwards platform.

I don't have any patent dislike for these people - it's really more pity. The people who really get my blood boiling are the asshole pricks who wholeheartedly believe that what the Boosh administration has done to this country is good for it.

16. The "smart" freepers I'm thinking of are my dad and uncle-in-law.
Before 2000, two of my favorite people. Both with advanced degrees, really smart, interesting guys. I don't know what the hell happened. My uncle now has pictures of Laura and George all over the house. What IS that???

It isn't just dumb... it's more than that. I live in a really liberal town so to be honest I don't know a ton of freepers. And I don't hate my dad, but... well let's just say I've had to do a lot of mental gymnastics to avoid breaking my family apart.

Anyway, hope you feel better. There's a lot of crap going around.
;)

18. Sadly, even the smart can be brainwashed
My father - a hardcore Dem before 9/11 - was brainwashed completely by the post-9/11 mass media blowjob of *. For a while (after the debates), I thought we had him back, but all indications are still that he voted for Bush on Nov 2. *sigh* At least we're in a blue district in a blue state where his vote doesn't really matter.

8. We all know there are some intelligent people who vote Republican
but we also know the advantage the Republicans have is they always get the moron vote. The graph is showing IQ averages among state populations.

As far as alienating potential Democrat voters in the Red areas - I live in a very Red area, and I know full well everybody around me is an idiot. You're not going to alienate me by pointing that out.

10. You can win by not carrying a southern state,
If Ohio had gone for Kerry, he would have won.

9. Whoa, Nebraska is No. 29. How'd this state score so high? Ever try
talking to some of the people around here. Two syllables is the max that you can use with most of the population. And they'll still give you that 'duh' look until you draw them a picture.

12. I don't think so
They're addressing a specific satirical piece. This is not that piece and does not appear to be related.
