With liberals dusting themselves off after their November setbacks, California's Sen. Barbara Boxer has emerged as the Left's new flamethrower.

But whatever others think, to those who have watched Boxer's political career over almost 30 years as a Marin County supervisor, a member of Congress and a U.S. senator, the only difference this time is that the whole nation might have been watching. The rest is vintage Boxer, the signature style of her whole career.

Barely 5 feet tall, Boxer must stand on a box - which she sometimes refers to as "the Boxer Box" - to see over the podium at press conferences. Fond of gold jewelry and colorful, occasionally mismatched outfits, she's energetic and aggressive, given to dressing down government officials at hearings, especially when reporters are within earshot.

I heard Maxine waters several days ago on c-span and a caller asked a ques. about PNAC. Waters had no idea what it was!

"American foreign and defense policy is adrift. Conservatives have criticized the incoherent policies of the Clinton Administration. They have also resisted isolationist impulses from within their own ranks. But conservatives have not confidently advanced a strategic vision of America's role in the world. They have not set forth guiding principles for American foreign policy. They have allowed differences over tactics to obscure potential agreement on strategic objectives. And they have not fought for a defense budget that would maintain American security and advance American interests in the new century.

We aim to change this. We aim to make the case and rally support for American global leadership.


As the 20th century draws to a close, the United States stands as the world's preeminent power. Having led the West to victory in the Cold War, America faces an opportunity and a challenge: Does the United States have the vision to build upon the achievements of past decades? Does the United States have the resolve to shape a new century favorable to American principles and interests?


We are in danger of squandering the opportunity and failing the challenge. We are living off the capital -- both the military investments and the foreign policy achievements -- built up by past administrations. Cuts in foreign affairs and defense spending, inattention to the tools of statecraft, and inconstant leadership are making it increasingly difficult to sustain American influence around the world. And the promise of short-term commercial benefits threatens to override strategic considerations. As a consequence, we are jeopardizing the nation's ability to meet present threats and to deal with potentially greater challenges that lie ahead."

8. The quick answer is PNAC = EVIL ...

The longer answer is that in 1997, a group of corporatistas (mainly defense and oil people) got together and formed an organization with a manifesto. This organization was named "The Project for a New American Century". They hid this manifesto in plain sight on the net.

Three key players who signed on to it (signatories at the bottom) were cheny, rumsfeld and wolfowitz. All of whom amazingly ended up in charge of the military. Since then they have been able to manipulate us into Iraq, consolidation of the military with intelligence and police forces. They accomplished this seemingly as a warm up exercise.

They have pulled some of the more controversial documents they've published from thier website, but those are available from some forward thinking people who preserved them, but are currently difficult to find.

They have accomplished a great deal in stealth mode, under the radar, by leveraging the radical alledged christian likes of robertson, dobson etc. shifting attention away from themselves.

5. So funny..Boxer on a box sounds so familiar

I am the same size as Boxer. I prefer to bite others on the shins as well. The description of her looks like my current job performance comments.

Despite her diminutive size Boxer will take this party to new heights!
