NashuaAdvocateBlogspot - Shut my comp down twice - HELP
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 11:42 AM by texpatriot2004
anyone else having problems with it?

In the Jan. 30th daily thread there is a post I wanted to read about election reform. I really like their blog and I have never had any problems before with the site. This morning it locked my computer twice and I had to shut down and bring it back up. Is anyone else having this issue?

Was anyone able to read the article? What was the gist of it?

Does anyone know how to let them know this problem is happening? Well, at least for some, maybe they aren't aware of it.

Here is the link to the DU thread with the post I am talking about. It is post number 3.

1. try disabling ActiveX and JavaScript.

There might be something embedded in the site that's locking your 'puter. .html itself won't do very much so it's possibly malicious code; possibly one of the two I mentioned.

edit: No ActiveX in it and the source code is clean as far as I can see - the only JavaScript in the source is for the counter. Might be that only certain IP blocks are affected. That can happen but it would be very odd in my experience.

6. Hey there...
...not sure what to tell you. Hmm. We've never had any negative feedback regarding the accessibility of our site. Admittedly we've only been on our current server for two months, but I expect we'd have heard something by now. Hopefully (if you know what I mean) it's something on your end. :-) And I hope you're able to figure it out okay.

Please keep us informed. We want everyone to be able to access the site without any problems.

3. Try reading it using this
Try reading it using this,
it's purpose is to check for accessibility issues,
but it also removes style sheets etc so it makes
a lot of problem web pages readable.
You don't need to download anything.

4. None that I haven't had from the start.

In mozilla, the border around the articles only goes down part way and the articles run off the bottom, straight through the big gray bar at the bottom.

But no problems with crashing or loading the page at all.

5. I didn't have any problems reading it and usually my outdated
computer and dial up connection is horrid. I hope the recommendations helped. My biggest beef with what the states are ALL proposing is that none of them mention getting rid of Diebold, Sequoia, ES & S, and opti-scan. The Dem's need to grow a real set IMHO! The removal of these bought and paid for companies is ESSENTIAL to Election reform. It is the only way we can build a system that is less prone to fraud. There is no absolutely fraud proof system, but hackable, programmable machines will ALWAYS be rampant with fraud!
