A proposal to prevent most forms of vote fraud
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 07:29 PM by scottxyz
I have a simple idea which could prevent the type of vote fraud that seems to be most prevalent: the hacking of vote totals while they're getting transmitted from polling centers -> counties -> state level.

Why not have each polling center publicize its totals BEFORE sending them to the county and state levels?

This would remove a major weak point where the vote is vulnerable to getting hacked.

A lot of DU threads, such as this one below...

...have theorized that the vote is getting hacked on (or en route to) the centralized "tabulating" computers.

Why can't votes be tallied "locally" at each polling center? Anyone could then use a simple calculator or spreadsheet to compute the county, state and national totals from local polling center totals. We wouldn't even NEED Diebold's overpriced, buggy GEMS program.

How many polling stations are there in the country? The number is probably somewhere in the thousands. Why do we need Diebold to create a database to add up a few thousand numbers? Each polling station should just publish its numbers, and then EVERYONE could add up the results in Excel.
