Media didn't listen when we cried LIHOP - will they listen when we cry VF?

I'm getting a little frustrated with all these great ideas on DU and the blogs - and then turning to news.google.com or turning on the TV or talking to friends and family and finding they've heard NOTHING about these important issues.

The truth, apparently, is now top-secret.

What we need to do is start telling people ourselves, getting some of this info into the blogs, that kind of thing. We've got a superior opportunity, with Nader asking for a recount. That was done by a couple of DUers, with help from others. C'mon, man, we can do this, 'kay?

3. We exposed LIHOP, we exposed Plame...

And the media even exposed the WMDs, the 380 tons...

And where did it all lead to?

All erased in 90 seconds of hacking a Diebold MS-Access program, just like Bev warned us.

Now we're exposing the Vote Fraud - piece by piece, after the fact. Once again, a certain percentage of the country will know the REAL DEAL - and the couch potatoes will have no idea, and think we're just being shrill.

I know I shouldn't be down, Eloriel - and I think you're doing a great job of exposing all these scandals. I'm also incredibly thankful for DU and the blogs, so at least *I* get to know more than the average couch potato.

But I'm tired of just being right - I want results.

I'm starting to think that we're somehow playing into Rove's hands. He knows we're going to expose stuff on the web, and then beg the media to cover it, and then spend tens of thousands of dollars on requesting recounts - and then get shot down by Ashcroft's Justice Department, or laughed at for being "shrill" or "sore losers", or shunted down the memory hole when some new crisis bumps us off the front page.

I'm all for exposing the vote fraud, as we have been doing on DU. But once we've exposed it here, I'm wondering if the right thing to do is just take our case to the courts and the media.

Maybe we need to take our case to our streets, neighborhoods, towns, schools, and places of work instead. Instead of trying to get CNN and NYT and SCOTUS and Congress to help us, we should go around them and help ourselves. Take our best news, arguments and proposals and instead of going to Washington and the media with them, print them out and audio/video-tape them and spread them around to our neighbors, friends, families, co-workers.

If Vote Fraud happened, then we have a majority in this country. We need to learn how to reach out to this majority. Washington and the media aren't going to help us. We need to do this ourselves now.

Yes, it sounds corny. But I'm just starting to feel like we're Charlie Brown, trying to kick the football, and Washington and the media are like Lucy - letting us run up to it huffing and puffing, only the pull the ball away at the last minute and laugh at us when we land flat on our face.

Let's keep exposing stuff - but let's also recognize that Washington and the media are only pretending to be our friends. Let's take the lead on this locally, and make Washington and the media come running after us, begging for us to pay attention to them again.

4. Forget the media, the Dem party didn't believe us when we proved LIHOP

and showed evidence MIHOP was probable. We need to convince them of voter fraud. Or better yet, replace Terry with Sharpton immediately.

hard enough. Now it's the time to take them over - as they are scared, confused and oh, so soft!

5. It won't happen all at once.

Think of all the work Bev and others have been doing since 2000, and how it was only beginning to seep into the mainstream before this election.

It will take time and it will be incremental. This is why we have to make sure to put our best evidence out in front from the beginning. We have to be rational and credible.

Not all at once, but it will happen.
