'I want you to vote for me,' dying wife said

Seattle PI

Charlette Holmgren realized a few weeks before the November election that she might not be able to cast her vote. She had recently been told that her breast cancer had spread to her liver and was terminal.

So Holmgren asked her husband of 40 years to vote for her in the event that she was unable. "She said, you know I may not be able to vote when the time comes to vote, but I want you to vote for me," Bob Holmgren said. "Her vote was important to her."

They went over all the issues on the ballot, and she told him how to vote for her on each one. She did not like Christine Gregoire, he said -- she didn't like the way she shuffled blame onto underlings during her time as attorney general. "She definitely did not want that lady to become the governor of the state," he said.

She wanted to vote to give more money to schools and to re-elect President Bush, among other things.

and served in an all-black unit in WWI (white officers, of course). He passed away in 1998, but he would have wanted to vote for Kerry right here in Ohio. Gee, since they did not receive the proper accolades, following that war, can we just give him one more vote, in honor of his unrecognized service to his country?

14. Everything they do has a pure reason. That's what makes them dangerous.
Even a Middle Eastern presence is justified on biblical grounds. If they destroy all of humanity, it would be God's will as foretold in the bible.

There are other things too:

Rush Limbaugh isn't a drug addict. He's a man who was suffering with an enormous back pain and got hooked on prescription drugs. Shame on those doctors and pharmaceuticals. (So they reward them with better tax-write offs)

Oliver North wasn't a traitor, loose cannon. He was a patriot of this country who was just following orders.

Gordon Liddy wasn't a burglar. He was another patriot of this country.

It goes on an on. White men are never judged by the same standards they judge others.

32. Read the article.
It's one of the examples of malfeasance (or whatever you want to call it) that they're citing to overturn the election.

Yeah, I gathered that much, but it is common for many from the other side to justify wrongdoing on the part of their supporters with carefully worded spin, but attack us and throw us to the wolves over every little thing.

18. I live in WA state. Each day brings something new to hate rossi for.
What.A.Pig. "We have to have a new election because dead people voted for me."

The WA state repub are priming themselves for four years of outrageous indignation if they can't steal the election.

The question is how can we ASSURE, BEYOND A DOUBT that elections are fair and the final vote tallies ACCURATELY reflect the will of the people?

Here is the answer:

Vote-by-Mail: The Real Winner Is Democracy

By Bill Bradbury
Saturday, January 1, 2005

While many states were embroiled in fights over touch-screen voting machines and provisional ballots and struggling to find enough people to staff polling places, Oregon once again quietly conducted a presidential election with record turnout and little strife.

Oregon's vote-by-mail system has proved reliable and popular. Critics said that vote-by-mail is prone to fraud. But signature verification of every voter before a ballot is counted is an effective safeguard against fraud.

Curtis Gans of the Committee for the Study of the American Electorate contended that vote-by-mail would suppress voter participation. But record numbers of Oregonians registered to vote, and almost 87 percent of them cast ballots.

Charlette Holmgren died Sept. 29 at the age of 57. When her absentee ballot arrived shortly after her death, Bob Holmgren did what he knew was legally wrong -- but felt like the right thing to do for his wife: He filled out and signed her ballot as she instructed, and mailed it in.

13. The last time my Mom left the house she voted
before she passed away (11-14). Even though she was terribly weak and very sick (lung cancer), she was determined to vote against the idiot. She hated him too. She told my sister that she believed that she would make it if Kerry was elected. She know that tragic effects that a 2nd bush term would have.

He identified Richard Nixon as a "crook" long before everyone else did, and for that he should have been able to vote against the little moron in the 2004 election.

In most states, an absentee voter must still live until the close of the polls on election day. I haven't looked at Washington yet, but that's the way it is in most states.

Well he did for her. That's exactly what happened. She requested the absentee ballot before her death. It arrived too late so her husband filled it in and sent it.

I don't care if it was an absentee ballot. It arrived too late and she did not fill it out. We have to take his word for it with respect to voter intent? I think not. He needs to be prosecuted according to the law.

He's a fraud and belongs in prison.

30. It doesn't make you a terrible person at all
Look at how many obituaries we saw with the "He/She wanted nothing more than to vote for John Kerry in this up coming election, so we ask that you cast your vote for Kerry in his/her memory."? Lots of them. He had options and he chose the one that was illegal rather than the one that would truly honor his wife, as so many others did.

He knew he was breaking the law. He said he knew that when he signed it and mailed it. His act was deliberate and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

And she cast a posthumous vote for him???

BWAWAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a greasy little whining loser he is getting on TV and complaining about dead folks voting.

Should he get a new election based on the fact that his supporters are fraudulent, conscienceless cheating pigs?

This story makes me sick to my stomach.
