Charlette Holmgren realized a few weeks before the November election that she might not be able to cast her vote. She had recently been told that her breast cancer had spread to her liver and was terminal.

So Holmgren asked her husband of 40 years to vote for her in the event that she was unable. "She said, you know I may not be able to vote when the time comes to vote, but I want you to vote for me," Bob Holmgren said. "Her vote was important to her."

They went over all the issues on the ballot, and she told him how to vote for her on each one. She did not like Christine Gregoire, he said -- she didn't like the way she shuffled blame onto underlings during her time as attorney general. "She definitely did not want that lady to become the governor of the state," he said.

She wanted to vote to give more money to schools and to re-elect President Bush, among other things.

before she passed away (11-14). Even though she was terribly weak and very sick (lung cancer), she was determined to vote against the idiot. She hated him too. She told my sister that she believed that she would make it if Kerry was elected. She know that tragic effects that a 2nd bush term would have.

Look at how many obituaries we saw with the "He/She wanted nothing more than to vote for John Kerry in this up coming election, so we ask that you cast your vote for Kerry in his/her memory."? Lots of them. He had options and he chose the one that was illegal rather than the one that would truly honor his wife, as so many others did.

He knew he was breaking the law. He said he knew that when he signed it and mailed it. His act was deliberate and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
