Read My Fucking Post!!!
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 08:22 PM by truthpusher
Please - you people are so predictable - I write something down that is not sensational and nobody wants to read it...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Today was a powerful day for me. What I saw were some real courageous people stand up for what they believe in...and then I saw...a bunch of weak people protect their jobs. I saw clearly what these branches of government are all about and it has nothing to do with Democracy. What they represent I don't want, let them have it.

What I want is what the people here at DU and places like it poses...it goes beyond Democracy as a system...it is Democracy as a living organism.

In the last 60 or so days, here at DU, I have seen an amalgam of individuals all with the same goal. A goal of finding and promoting the truth. You gave it all you got...and guess what...you did it.

You went as far as you can go within a system that is not truly Democratic. You were able to put a wrinkle in the most powerful and corrupt of systems, if only for two hours.

Truthfully, I don't know if the system will ever be reformed...but I do know for sure...we are on to something bigger...much bigger than what was on display today.

title changed for clarity

Today was a powerful day for me as well. We changed history. This may have fallen short of some expectations, but for me a victory is a victory. A victory that will be written in history books is a major victory.

More important- This is our foot in the door. We have shown our representatives that we are here, we are watching, and we are not going anywhere.

Sorry about referring to water ,i guess it is just the damn is starting to break. Still hopeful that justice will be served.

22. Well lets see -- I was surprised by the large number of
Republicans who were virulent -- many more than I expected (but I should have known). I know that theoretically they were there but to hear no moderate voices and to hear the equivalent of big kids yelling you suck as their argument just struck home how important this issue is. On the side of justice I AM disappointed that more people on both sides couldn't stand on the right side. On the side of political strategy I was very pleased today that we ARE moving forward, we ARE gaining strength. We need to craft the follow on strategy to continue to push the ball till we hit the downhill stretch. Now we need to realize that truth is not enough and we now need to engender belief of fraud in a larger audience than those who espouse truth of the issue.

We have the ability to organize on a local level
we have to do it
There are 62,000 registered DU'ers I think and supposedly 2 million at Move On
We all live in towns and we do not know who shares our views and goals- there should be no reason why we can't organize

39. 60's -Houston, Texas for me
went like this...

"There's a march downtown ..do ya wanna go?"

etc..

also I mostly got my info from kids at U of Houston &
Rice...sometimes you might see flyers stapled around.

these kids are doing this....Jan 20>>
www.houstonglobalawareness.org
http://www.houston.indymedia.org/

Back then...
Thousands marched one time, from downtown to
Herman Park...about 3 miles.. against the war.

Who organized it? I don't know.
There were always people around doing things
mostly at the park...then

I lived 5 miles from town ...now about 20+

Things were so different ...it is not so easy now and
Texas/Houston was Democratic and a lot smaller in population.

If there were thousands again we would feel/be safe.....
still I will be there Jan 20 at U of H.

4 years ago 300+ of us were at the Federal bldg. downtown on a
weekend for anti-inaugural...we were not noticed by the media.

We need a really BIG march and I do not know how to do it.
I am 53 and sick...you have an idea I will pass it along.

29. Well, I find the whole damn thing repulsive and offensive
First of all, when the 2000 selection was finalized, the Democrats swore that they would be prepared next time and never again. Welcome to 'next time' that just slid by, and the American people get to endure four more years of the same oppressive corrupt rotting Republicism (not Democracy).

Secondly, who can honestly say that the Democratic Party is not at least complicit, with the exception of those who opposed this alleged election, with the neo-con takeover in Washington D.C.? For some reason, I am always left with the impression that the Democratic Party has made a backroom deal to let this one slide for a 'alleged' payback in the future. Why? Because none of this makes any sense, and there is no reason why the worst pResident in modern history was not crushed in the election.

To have to watch the Congressional spectacle today, and listen to Republicans completely dismiss irregularities, odd results, and ignore millions of citizens speaking through a few Representatives is unforgivable, repulsive, and offensive. For every Republican who was stupid enough to question the motives of those objecting, then they truly do not have a clue about the shame and disgrace that they themselves have soiled and eroded our Democracy with. To see so many Democrats and Republicans just go through the motions and forget about it, contradicts the very meaning of what this country is all about. If our elected Representatives in the United States Government do not wish to represent all United States citizens wholly and equally, then they have violated their honor and integrity and our trust in them. Simply put, those who choose not to represent in full, serve absolutely no purpose to the American people and their constituents.

The American people need to demand their Government for the people and by the people back, and abolish this present Government by the corporations and for the the corporations. No millionaire or billionaire should have any more of a voice in the Government than any one poor person. No citizen should have any less say in the Government than the most powerful corporation in the United States. If the American people want their Democracy back, this is start in giving all citizens a truly fair and equal voice in our Government.

31. After all of the effort we put in to get one voice..
..in the Senate to speak, has opened my eyes to the fact that using branches of government for a voice is not the way to go.

Rosa Parks was not a branch of Government.

Gandhi was not a branch of Government.

MLK was not a branch of Government.

I am not a branch of Government.

Let's get back to we the people.

The strength of one dissenting voice is as strong as ten thousand singing the same tune. We do not have to use our goverment to have our voice heard.

32. Verify my fucking vote!
Sorry, but it's in the mood of the thread!

We ain't overturning the election, YET. I'd like to see what Arnebeck comes up with, if there's a statue of limitations on stealing a presidency, etc.

But what we should be able to do is fight for verified voting in every trench in America! This means all the usual stuff you do during a campaign. I never did anything like that before, other than voting, but for Kerry, and against Shrub, I did whatever the campaign asked of me, consistent with my other responsibilities in life. I bet a lot of you did too! This is the kind of effort and activism we need to get election reform, verified voting, and so on.

This means letters to editors, other media, state and local governments, congressmen, senators, the works! If you want to protest somewhere get out and protest! State capitals are where the election laws are made.

And it's NOT just the paper trail, it's the AUDITS stupid! The paper needs to be looked at right after the election, randomly -- not like in the ill-fated Ohio recount. And this needs to be the LAW in every state. Otherwise the paper trail is just another placebo, like the provisional ballot. This is the greatest danger. FAUX ELECTION REFORM.

This is where the movement has to go. Read every bill, write to every rep. Find out who's really in favor of verifying the vote, and who's full of crap. Start here:
<http://www.verifiedvoting.org/article.php?list=type&type=43>
and get these bills fixed and signed into law!

We need this by 2006, for obvious reasons.
What do you say people?

Do I have to start a whole f***ing thread about this? We have to keep the momentum going! Now is the time. Boxer and the brave House Reps gave them a little nudge today, but they ain't seen nothing yet! What we need now is the tsunami!

38. Won't know until we try!
Think about it, how many people even write to their reps, about ANYTHING, EVER? I never did before. But I've written so many letters about this issue, to so many places, I can't even keep track of 'em. And I'm just one guy.

And who ever writes to their state Reps? Even fewer people. But they make Election Law! We don't need Washington to do anything. And we don't need all 50 states to win back the country either, although they couldn't hurt.

I think if enough of us raise enough of a stink about it, they will at least hear us. And we need to show them we also know when we're being had! HAVA is a perfect example. The Provisional Ballot was supposed to solve all our problems. Look how it was exploited by the states. They just used it to get people to shut up and go away. Imagine how they will exploit the opportunity of a paper trail that will never be audited!

I think there's some hope, but change may have to come at the state level. Then we can vote out the whole frickin' Congress if he want to! You know, if everyone just voted AGAINST the incumbents, it would go Blue in '06.
