The GOP Looked Like Assholes Today-Democrats Showed They Care
The GOP talked about Mike Moore, terrorism and sour grapes.

The Democrats talked about making a citizen's right to vote Constitutional & Election Reform.

The Democrats had facts and presented evidence.

The GOP just displayed mean spirited partisanship.

The Democrats said over and over this is about the process not the results.

The GOP kept on whining about the results.

The Democrats talked about the Legislation they wanted to bring to the floor to deal with Electoral problems but couldn't cause of GOP knuckedragging.

The GOP ignored the plight of 100,000's of African Americans who couldn't vote because of a broken system.

SO HOW PATHETIC IT IS TO SEE DU'ERS BASHING DEMOCRATS.

2. Agreed.
It was very telling to see Tom Delay call today's proceedings a "shame" and that the Democratic Party and the Left haven't done anything worthwile since the Civil Rights movement. And then one of his lackeys talked about how talking about democracy emboldens terrorists to threaten democracy in Iraq.

29. C-span is the media, so now the Rethug election fraud is evident to
anyone who cares to look it up and be informed. Plus, this challenge placed in the official Congressional Records the many reasons for the challenge and evidence collected to date, affidavits, etc.

These are significant achievements in my book. Sure, this could have turned out better (20-30 Repub. converts join Dems to overturn OH, Kerry bursting in the doors to be declared rightful President, etc.); but it also could have been a lot worse -- i.e. Dems. could have shrunk back into the cloakrooms to their own shame again -- yet they didn't do that this time. So, on balance, this was a very good day I feel.

7. Same old hack responses meant to marginalize us
Made them look as mean-spirited & hateful as they really are, particularly in the context & forum in which they were speaking.

As for us, here at DU, it is counter-productive, to say the least, to be eating our own. Let's leave that activity for the repukes.

8. Thank you! A few of my observations.
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 07:44 PM by Laurab
The GOP said honest elections were a threat to democracy.

The GOP said asking for honest elections was a terrible thing, and would lead to serious repercussions in the future.

The GOP praised Ohio for it's "fair", "bipartisan" election.

The GOP (I think) know how to read, because a lot of them read the same editorials.

The Democrats can read better, and even retain the information, because obviously, they had read the 102 page report.

Democrats can write their own speeches, instead of reading editorials.

The Democrats stuck to the issue at hand (election reform) instead of repeating that * was elected fair and square, over and over.

The Democrats DO seem to care about democracy, and even the Constitution.

The GOP made it quite clear they don't give a shit about either of those things.

I have never been so disgusted by a group of people as I was by each and every rethug that I had the misfortune of watching today. I was hoping that one, just one, would speak to the issue that was being discussed. I am now convinced that they're ALL thieves and liars.

Edited for bad grammar.

11. I only got to watch an hour or so
Each and every (R) was sooo white-bread shiny face clone. (except the LA guy, forget his name) You could tell what they were apt to say before they opened their mouth. Have y'all read Bushworld by MoDo? I know she's iffy, but her book sure nails this administration. Especially how they've taken us backward in time. Man, I disapprove of Dick even more than W.

13. I'm saving Bushworld
For when I run out of * reading material. Only because I believe it's a compilation of articles, and I like "book books" better. I'm up to around 20 books, and I think there will be a lot more coming. I think a lot of them nail this administration, and the more I read, the more frightened I get. So, while * is busy destroying the country, the bright spot is that there'll be a lot more reading material for me...

They know that they had to lie and steal and cheat to "win" this election. And I bet they're running scared. We put them on the hot seat today and they didn't like it one bit!!

Not all repugs are thieves but, by following party lines, that makes every last, pathetic one of them accomplices.

Little by little, bit by bit, we're exposing them for what they are.

20. We really were watching history in the making.
I just got home from work, but I got to watch all the speeches today(kept switching back and forth between C-Span and C-Span 2). I apparently missed all the Dem-bashing tonight, and for that I am very glad.

The Democratic senators' speeches in particular were eloquent, some of them so beautifully worded and spoken as to make you cry. The GOP just came across as mean-spirited whiners. The contrast was amazing. I was very proud to be a Democrat today.

just made me sick to say I voted for that poor weak example of a party. Ask yourself what FDR would have said today and you have your answer, this would not have happened in his day ever. He would have fought for us until the fraud was over turned. Where are FDR, we need you so badly.

28. Objection to Ohio electors
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 10:14 PM by FedUp2
There were sufficient questions about the legality of the Ohio vote to make a refusal to accept the certified results an obligation by any right thinking dem senator or rep., in my opinion. I no longer have any respect for any of them other than Boxer and the thirty-something objectors in the House.
I fear that that evil doers have become so emboldened by the meekness of dem repsonses that the future of the very Democracy in America is endangered.
