Just Want To Say THANK YOU To Everyone Who Frequents This Forum
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 06:03 PM by matcom
i haven't posted here much (if at all) - for my own reasons - but whether or not you know it, YOU scored a VICTORY today! i've been reading daily, and am not surprised at the result, but just wanted to tell you ALL that you ALL are GREAT!

did it change the outcome? no

did it raise AWARENESS? yes

THAT is step 1.

whether or not we/you/they choose to try and change the Dem party or fight it, today was historic and I thank YOU ALL FOR YOUR EFFORTS!

we will all decide individually what path we take over the next 2 or so years but one thing we/you DO KNOW is that yes, a difference CAN BE MADE. These Internets are really powerful :D

I :toast: you all.

3. I sent a thank you email to my representative...
...who happens to be Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. I told her that today, I watched the purest form of democracy in action: I feel that the voter suppression that took place in Ohio was obscene; I wrote my congresswoman and I called her office; today, she spoke for me. It doesn't get any cleaner or simpler or nobler than that. That's what's supposed to happen. And it did. And it worked on a senator who can't even claim me as a constituent. She listened, she stood up, and I'm moved by the tears she was wiping away, the same tears I've been shedding for the disenfranchised voters of my state for 2 months now. It works. It's slow, it's painful, it can be discouraging, it can be depressing, but today we proved that OUR voices can be heard if we scream loud enough. Let them insult us - LET THEM. If we keep up the pressure, and our voices get louder and louder, maybe we'll actually make a difference down the road, maybe if we prove to other voters that yes, YOU COUNT TOO, we can sway them to do the same thing. To me, this was just a beginning. I feel empowered - I made them listen, and I - ME - made them debate it. We should be proud!

Thank you!

6. You are right,matcom
I called Senator Boxer's office this evening and passed along my thanks to her.

Now I pass along my thanks to my fellow fraud fighters! Today was one hell of a show! It was great and we jumped over the first hurdle.

7. I agree!
I think this is apprpriate:

From Rudyard Kipling's poem "IF".

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

8. It was a Great day
We had a major impact on the issue of election fraud and reform. Thanks to leadership within our party who stood tall. You are the true heros for democracy!
