This is what you must do in 2006
1. VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES.
2. PARTICIPATE IN THE PRECINCT CONVENTION. This is the only place you, as an individual Democrat, can introduce resolutions that can change how your state's Democratic Party does things.
3. If possible, become a senatorial delegate and participate in the senatorial convention where you can vote on the resolutions once again.
4. Any "business-as-usual" Democratic candidates or resolutions must be marginalized. This is imperative.

There were too many NO votes on the Senate floor - this is one way we can fortify the Democratic Party at the grass-roots level.

1. I'm with you
I haven't normally voted in the primaries, but I will from now on.

16. Thank you!
And please participate in the precinct meeting immediately afterwards. Bring at least one resolution you want the Dems to adopt. I'm already working on a couple myself.

2. Aren't they held every year?
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 03:38 PM by Mistress Quickly
In GA I think the precinct conventions are held every year.

I'm new to the political process so I'm not sure, but I think that's right.

5. Adding that the primaries need to be fixed as well. Same-day w/
instnat run-off voting might be a good change.

13. Can you vote absentee?
that't what I'm going to do until there is a paper trial. Also, I plan to get in touch with my local register of voters and go up the ladder demanding accountability.

17. Then don't VOTE with a Diebold machine
Demand a paper ballot. If they won't give you one, tell them to fuck off and give you one anyway. It's your vote, not theirs.

7. Work to elect Democratic Elections Officials!
Work to pass constitutional amendments or state initiatives for election reform: verifiable voter trail, automatic state funded recounts, etc.... Let's do it!!!!!!!

8. It looks like we are going to replace 17 Dem Sens with 17 Dem Sens
We need to create a "primaries for democracy" movement to reward the good guys and kick out the bad guys.

9. We all need to get involved......
but......isn't there an election machine company up for sale? If "we" bought it, would the repugs change their mind about paperless voting?

Isn't there a way that we can brain storm to figure out how to make the registration and election process transparent?

10. Only 1,474 more days of Smirkyboy's time
Let's hope most of it is spent in Crawford. The less he does, the less chance he has to screw up the world.

Or DOES he have 1,474 more days? Nixon didn't make it through his second term!

12. Point #1 is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT!
Vote in the primaries. Vote in the local elections. Heck, write in John Stewart, Randi Rhodes, Keith Olbermann if you feel like it, but get your name solidly in the registration books: make sure you stay registered and deal with any changes of address ASAP and make sure they are resolved by working the (figurative) voting machine. It's the only way to know for sure that your registration is being handled correctly.

Also try voting absentee once or twice if your state allows it, to make sure that your signature is properly on file. Do it both ways (in different elections! :-) ).

That way it is harder for them to kick you off the roles, and harder for them to short your precinct based on past election turnout.

Everyone needs to hear this.

14. Very important point
"To marginalize" the "rethug-lite" Democrats is an imperative, IMO.
