Here's to hoping I have to eat crow
I've had my problems with challenging the Ohio electoral votes. This post is to publically state, I hope to hell I am dead ass wrong about it. I hope this puts the issue to the forefront and shows the problems mwe have with free and fair elections in this nation.

I hope that come about this time next week, I post a thread where I publically state I am eating crow.

Just the two that represent me.

Edited to add: I've already emailed both of mine and stated that although I had misgivings, since the die is cast all Democrats must come together and support this.

29. Me too, Walt
I've emailed Leahy and Jeffords stating that although I have misgivings about the wisdom of this move, I believe that they should stand with Senator Boxer. As long as it's going to happen, we need as many dems on board as we can get. It'll be more difficult for the rethugs and the MSM to marginalize them as representatives of the "loony left", if there are a substantial number of them objecting.

I've stated several times that I'll gladly apologize if the objection leads to a higher profile for election reform, and greater public involvement in the issue. Being wrong would give me great pleasure.

19. Walt...
I have been given hope by things you have said in the past and I have been disappointed. But, someone said something recently that rings true to me. We all have our own special talents and very few of us are going to help change this country in the same way. We need different ideas, positions and discussions in order to form a "more perfect union."

I hope you, and all of us for that matter, can look past the negative and destructive noise, and pursue, in our own way, alone or together, the rebuilding of this country. Individuals and people who were organized together changed history.

This isn't about one individual, it's about basic rights as a citizen. I, for one, am glad you are here to help in the discourse and hopefully the action.

That said, Lighten up. ;)

27. And will you apologize to all those here on the board
whom you have intentionally offended?

"Who died and put YOU in the driver's seat?"

"Fraudists"

I have mixed feelings about your post. You say that you will eat crow but you never offer to apologize to the posters here whom you have offended by making nasty and snide remarks.

In the last few weeks, it seems as though you have sought out the threads that were filled with the most hope simply to unleash your doubts, anger and bitterness. For that, you have not seemed remorseful. Your protests of "remorse" always came with a caveat that negated the whole theory that you had any remorse to start with.

You have ridiculed those of us who are working as hard as we can on something we believe in. You have been dismissive and sometimes quite nasty and disruptive.

You owe a lot of people an apology, not an offer to eat crow.

28. In the current climate, if u are wrong
then you may be forgiven. This has been a very hard call, a real cliffhanger. Your strong objections have been forthright and consistent, if overly negative and strident. I guess we incorrigible wishful thinkers always need a hardcore realist to bounce off of. But "reality" is an especially slippery thing these days. I'm not sure it exists anymore. Anything can happen. And we can make it happen.

Walt Starr, if you publicly eat crow I'd like to hear what u say.
It takes guts to admit being incorrect.

ButI still have the urge to give u a spank :spank:

Then u can go have a  BARBARA SIGNED! :bounce:

32. walt we are all on virgin ground here...no one is right or wrong!!
thats what makes forums like this so valuable..we can see all sides of the equation, and make our judgements by looking at others researched opinions and deductions...no one could possibly be right or wrong when we are dealing with such a complex law that even experts in our constitution disagree ......no one should eat crow..as long as they invest their time to look at all sides of our votes and laws ...as long as you engage as an american you can never be wrong...

what "is wrong" is the ohhh so many who don't bother to stand for their nation , who can not be bothered knowing whats going on in their government ..in their name...

i salute anyone who gets involved...we will never all agreee 100% of the time, nor should we, great things come from just regular people who dig in and work their hardest to keep aware of what is going on, and to have the guts to share their opinions and well thought out ideas and reasoning...

what makes us so strong as a people and a nation is that opposing ideas brought us the strongest constitution in the world, and it is under the guard of all of us..."we the people"

"we the people" who have worked for the rights of all of our american brothers and sisters are all right...we just see some things differently and we must respect each others opinions and cherish the fact that that person is engaged enough and cares enough to speak out.

34. Which part though?
See, while I don't agree with your point of view about how detrimental this may be, you give a fairly cogent argument. I can see clearly how it could turn out that way. Is that the crow you're talking about? Or is it that you'll eat crow if the election is overturned and Kerry is installed in the White House, because if it's the latter, pack a lunch as there will be no crow for you.....

36. About how detrimental this may be
If the election is overturned and Kerry becomes president, eating crow won't be nearly enough.

And yes, that possibility does exist, remote though it may be.
