4. I know someone very much like a real-life Ned Flanders.
He's an evangelical Christian and social conservative and also an intelligent and generous and thoroughly decent and moral human being. He had a lot of doubts about Bush before the election (particularly concerning Iraq) and I don't know which way he ended up voting. I may ask him when I get to the point where I can talk about the election results without crying.

We called him Ned.
