Crossfire now
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 04:37 PM by Goldeneye
Novak just called us lunatics. Mentions that Ohio recount re-enforces Bush's victory. Begala says he doesn't want to see democrats trying to install Kerry, like Bush was installed in 00. He wants to be consistant. Maybe we should give him a piece of our mind. Anyone got begala's e-mail?

5. Begala makes too much money....
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 05:48 PM by Kansas Wyatt
Taking pot shots at Shrub, and wants four more years of the easy money. Besides, Begala is still too d*mn cozy with the Fascist Traitor Novak and F**ker Carlson. I gave up on Con News Network (CNN) a long time ago, since they only pander to Shrub surrogates and skull f**k any opposition or challenge to them.

Edited because it may have offended some freeper or fundie.

35. When there was no highpaying job for Begala before the election...
he moved on to Hillary. Begala's fame and fortune comes from getting somebody elected to office and then living off that for the next four.

also, it's nice to see begala turn his little tail and stick his nose up hillary clinton's butt. he is such a wuss.....

10. You know what's so stupid about all of this?
All we want is the truth. If they came out and said here, this is the voting machine. Inspect it if you want. These are the exit polls. Inspect them too. Here is Blackwell. Ask him whatever you want, because he has nothing to hide. Take Rove too. Ask him anything. We'll put paper trails on the voting machines and have them inspected by independent companies if that'll shut you up. If they would just do these things, I'd survive. I'd be miserable knowing Bush won fairly, but I'd be satisfied knowing we still had a fair chance in the future.

But they won't. What are they hiding?

31. Exactly
I was had been resigned (sadly) in the days after the election to Bush's win-- UNTIL I found out all this stuff about suspected computer fraud and systematic disenfranchisement in Ohio, Florida and elsewhere.

The real "kooks" are the people who hear about the numerous troubling aspects of the 2004 election and then-- in spite of them all-- still say everything is fine. (Mr. Begala, are you listening?)

As Jesse Jackson said, we can deal with an election that was won fairly, but not one that was stolen. (or words to that effect).

Mr. Blackwell, just show us that our suspicions are misplaced.

12. Some MSM gets it right!
I'm new to posting on the DU board and haven't figured out how to start a new topic.

I sincerely apologize if this has already been posted by someone else but I think this is the most important documentary that DU'ers and others should see before Jan 6th!

The title of this 3 part program is: The power of nightmares / The rise of the politics of fear. This is a recent (in the past month 1/2) BBC program that delves into information most know but the presentation is of a type we (in the US) haven't seen in quite a few years. If you haven't see this video, please do yourself a favor and take time out to watch it.

The file format is Real Media so the video quality isn't that great. But it's viewable immediately and if you want higher video quality perhaps someone can find the torrent and seed it for DU.

Text from opening transcript:

VO: In the past, politicians promised to create a better world. They had different ways of achieving this. But their power and authority came from the optimistic visions they offered to their people. Those dreams failed. And today, people have lost faith in ideologies. Increasingly, politicians are seen simply as managers of public life. But now, they have discovered a new role that restores their power and authority. Instead of delivering dreams, politicians now promise to protect us from nightmares. They say that they will rescue us from dreadful dangers that we cannot see and do not understand. And the greatest danger of all is international terrorism. A powerful and sinister network, with sleeper cells in countries across the world. A threat that needs to be fought by a war on terror. But much of this threat is a fantasy, which has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It’s a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world, the security services, and the international media.

VO: This is a series of films about how and why that fantasy was created, and who it benefits. At the heart of the story are two groups: the American neoconservatives, and the radical Islamists. Both were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world. And both had a very similar explanation for what caused that failure. These two groups have changed the world, but not in the way that either intended. Together, they created today’s nightmare vision of a secret, organized evil that threatens the world. A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. And those with the darkest fears became the most powerful.

< OPENING TITLES: THE POWER OF NIGHTMARES / THE RISE OF THE POLITICS OF FEAR[br />
Part One: BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE ]

VO: The story begins in the summer of 1949…

VO: ...when a middle-aged school inspector from Egypt arrived at the small town of Greeley, in Colorado. His name was Sayyed Qutb. Qutb had been sent to the U.S. to study its educational system, and he enrolled in the local state college. His photographs appear in the college yearbook. But Qutb was destined to become much more than a school inspector. Out of his experiences of America that summer, Qutb was going to develop a powerful set of ideas that would directly inspire those who flew the planes on the attack of September the 11th. As he had traveled across the country, Qutb had become increasingly disenchanted with America. The very things that, on the surface, made the country look prosperous and happy, Qutb saw as signs of an inner corruption and decay.

24. It's the movie a lot of people have been dying to see!
In just under 3 hours (viewing time of the films) the viewer is taken through a short history lesson on who the hidden players were (hidden by time); what they did and thought; how their actions set things in motion and what we're living in the end of now.

Done in classic British style.

I think its more than worth your time and the clear understanding you come out with on the other side makes things "make more sense". And that's a good thing, I think.

I just watched it yesterday and knew right away that this had to get out. I guess it only started making the "underground" scene on Tuesday and I hunted up the video ASAP. Not sure if I'm a johnny-come-lately on this but if not people are in for an eye opener!

There are DVD quality captures of this series available online, someone just needs to hunt it up and post the tracker address.

19. Glad John Stewart shot Crossfire down, never watch CNN anymore
agree Novak should be in jail for refusing to divulge who committed treason within the government.

Also, did anyone else notice that while Tucker listened to his mommy and predicted based on the polls that Kerry would win, Novak was willing to stake his reputation on a * win? That means Novak was part of the election theft conspiracy, too, since he is not stupid enough to misread the polls that Margaret Carlson and Karen Hughes AND KARL ROVE could read.

20. If we were really just "crazy"...
They wouldn't even take notice, or bother to mention it. Think about the last time a random crazy person approached you on the street...did you stick around and try to convince anyone looking or listening that the person was crazy? Why bother? You just knew it, and moved on.

The fact that they are obsessing so much shows that they are trying WAY too hard to convince themselves and others that our claims have merit.

They know we are right on track, thus, the overzealous "damage control."
