I had a 45 minute long IM with an online republican "friend" today...all he could say was that he really thought that finally the moderates would reach out to heal the hatred in Washington. I laughed at him, told him he was dreaming...he voted for sound bites and scare tactics; he thought I was taking this too seriously. I said HE wasn't taking it seriously enough.

Let them destroy Social security and Medicare, the people who voted for him can watch their elderly parents starve or suffer. Let their daughters die in back street abortions, let their kids die in another country fighting for freedoms they no longer enjoy. Let them watch the rich get richer and they themselves poorer and poorer until there are only two classes in this country. Let them watch the destruction of the federal government under BushCo massive deficit. Let them watch a friend or loved one die from a disease they could have been immunized against.

They voted for this? That's what democracy is. If this is what the majority of people in this country want I have nothing in common with these people. I don't belong in this country. I love democracy and fairness. This country offers neither. I support their decision. That's what being a citizen is all about, though I doubt they would be as gracious if the tables were turned. Blue States need to be annexed by Canada or I suspect there will be a mass exodus of intellectuals from this country.
