Battleground Dems: Study Illinois
Illinois WAS a battleground in the 90s and was shaping up to swing GOP as Ohio (and WI and MI are close to becoming) did.

But now the IL GOP is in absolute shambles, imploding because from scandal and fraud that was exposed by the Dems and brought to light by the press ( a republican press, btw).

If there's one thing that will send the culture warriors back under their rocks and away from the polls, it's scandal. They DO abandon GOP pols in these instances, and not just in Illinois. Just ask Newt or Livingston.

If 2004 taught us anything, they don't care about lies, war-mongering, fiscal recklessness, or incompetence. They DO care about sex, and to their credit, that is the only thing they are consistent on.

Where there's power, there's sex. Dig dig dig.

1. Illinois is Democratic because they have a strong Democratic Party...
and corrupt Rethugs.

5. The Dems were not terribly strong in the mid-to-late-90s
that's just a fact.

4. Key to Political Warfare - Investigate Every Claim of Corruption
or Scandal.

Paint targets on every Republican office holder, even if they are dog catchers. Every elected office is a vital office for the party.

6. Illinois is the "Land of Lincoln" and was Republican for many decades.
It was only within the last couple of elections that IL turned Dem and yes, the implosion of the IL RNC helped.

I do hope that my birth state, IL, can be the guide to a Dem renaissance.
