Will the Party finally get back to its Progressive Roots again???
And start giving people a real alternative to the GOP?

For too long now, we've had positions like:

We support free trade too, just with a few more restrictions.

We support tax cuts too, we just differ over who should get them.

We're even tougher on national security than they are. Bad Saddam, bad!

How bout we get back to saying things like:

We support living wages, they support people working for $5.15/hour.

We support Universal Healthcare, they support a system that excludes 43 million Americans.

We don't believe in sacrificing American lives in furtherance of political ambitions.

1. Major problem is what we support economically does not matter
Nor does our foreign policy.

It is an up and down vote over permissive language in TV shows, rock music, film. We are the party of the minority - but the non-black minority is just about 45% GOP these days. We are for gay rights - but the GOP got 20% more gay votes than in 2000.

We support a women's right to choose - but a majority of married women voted GOP.

We support unions - but the union folk voted about 45% GOP.

As long as the GOP can sell - via our media - the idea of the liberal control of America - and point folks away from Congress and toward rappers as a way of proving that point - we can have any position on issues that we want to take -

and we will still lose - and by the same amount regardless of the set of issues or the set of positions that we push.

2. Amen
We need a message - and it has to be strong.

Lets stay away from the specifics and work on the overall image.

* Pro-life - life across the board - Pro-Choice *IS* Pro Life!
* Environment - green as can be
* Healthcare - for all!!
* Wages - workers out of poverty
* Gay Marriage - Civil Unions is a moot issue if people have healthcare and common law rights as citizens.
* Medical Research - get a thinktank on stemcells to MAKE OUR AGENDA!!
* Draft - This is worthy of a constitutional amendment to BAN or set precedence on to be fair for ALL

Tons of other issues that we need to define as well.

3. We need to take on the corporations...
and we might as well face it NOW.

Without doing so, we will never have:
Real wages
Fair media
Clean campaigns and elections
Competitive small businesses
Clean air and water
Peace/an end to the military industrial complex

It is non-negotiable for me now.

4. Nope!
The Dems just pissed on us and refused to fight. The next candidate they field will be more conservative than Kerry. The DLC is in a losing race with the GOP to the extreme right. First one to Dachau wins.
