Contesting Ohio will hurt the Democratic Party.
Kerry lost the popular vote by 4 million last night. Gore won the popular vote by 1/2 million four years ago. In 2000 there was a sense that if Gore could challenge the results in Florida it might be the fair thing to do to make him president after all. Kerry has no such moral high ground. If he drags this election out (having been trounced in the popular vote) by contesting Ohio then he will not only paint himself as a self-serving egoistic politician but will taint the Democratic Party. Democrats need to tell him to just throw the towel in because the results of him switching Ohio (mathematically practically almost impossible) and then having the House decide to give Bush the election, or even if he won with Bush getting more votes than any other president in US history, would spell doom for the Democrats.

4. The Democrats are already doomed, at least as they exist now.
The party has to be completely overhauled and its leadership tossed out on their ears if there is any chance of succcess in 2006.

6. Kerry made a promise to have our back...
...and now is the time to fulfill it. Yes, it appears he lost the popular vote, but so did Bush. The electoral college is what matters. Kerry owes it to America to make sure the process was carried out accordingly and that everything was fair.

Will it hurt the Democratic party? No more than losing.

12. Pfftt! What a load of crap -Contesting Ohio will show the Dems don't roll
over and play dead. Wanting to get every vote counted doesn't make one an egotist. If the EV match up and the House gave it to Bush, so be it. But at least that would be following the election RULES and PRINCIPLES to their logical conclusion. Giving up while there is some question about the outcome is cowardly.

17. Is it SO unheard of to wait until all votes are counted to concede?
Damn, do you think the elections 100 years ago were settled in hours? In many places they are counting votes by hand. Two precincts in Iowa have broken machines, so they have to wait on new ones to count the vote. Many people voted on provisional ballots and paper ballots in Ohio. There are tons of absentee ballots to count. This election is close. I see no way that waiting to count ALL the votes is bad. Goddamn if that's the case, why the hell place an absentee ballot in the first place.

All votes in all states count.
Any and all evidence of fraud, in any state, needs to be investigated.

But let's count the votes first.

20. Count the god damned fucking votes first -- ALL the Votes
What is it with you trolls -- fight fight fight fight -- nothing is lost if Kerry fights.

The numbers stink -- something is wrong -- the lawyers and computer geeks have got to get at the bottom of this. While it can be done.

Or we can write off the America we know --

I just hate dumb ass -- don't fight it might hurt us BS messages.

22. I think Ohio should be counted BUT,
I think the announcement that Edwards made was appropriate. Simply, that they want to make good on their promise that every vote be counted. No hysterical accusations or bitter rhetoric. Just staying on message all the way to the end.

Now, how the fuck did this happen.

I went to bed pretty hopeful and I'm fucking STUNNED this morning.

If nothing else, I'm very proud of John Kerry and the long way he came prior to last night. He came a VERY long way and he put up with some of the most disgusting and vile accusations from the most disgusting and vile of people along the way. He polished his message, tightened up his campaign and brought hope to millions. He lit a fire under the asses of the complacent. We have to hold onto this and keep the momentum and continue to do something about the state of this country under the power of these scumbags.

Something, anything. I made my website (http://www.pnac.us) and now I'm even more determined to keep it going. That's the only way I know to vent my energy about how disgusted I am.

25. if we don't fight, we lose credibility
I've said it before, and I don't mind saying it again. Nobody respects a quitter.

If we don't fight right now to have every vote counted, then why should voters trust us to fight for them?

Throwing in the towel won't win us a shred of respect from anyone, including the people we hope to win to our side. Caving in now would give people a good reason not to take us seriously.

Whether we win or lose in Ohio, our credibility is on the line, and the only thing that can save it is for us to fight like hell.

26. As much as I hate to say it...
...it's true. It will be bad for the Dems if this is dragged out for weeks in the courts. I would never say that except for the fact that FOR SOME REASON, * got 4 million more votes than Kerry overall. Even if Kerry could somehow draw a victory out of this in the courts, it will be against the popular choice. Better that THEY play the hypocrites and fools for the next 4 years instead of us. Let the vaunted youth see what their self-absorbed apathy has wrought. Let's see how apathetic they are after 4 more years of re-shaping America into a theocracy.

27. To moderately amend you viewpoint...
Kerry won Florida. That's right, you heard me, he WON Florida. Oh, sure, the current vote count there is pro-Bush, if you exclude the niggers. What's that? Don't like me referring to dark-skinned Americans with African ancestry as niggers?

I don't like it either. But I also believe in equality, and I believe if you're going to racially bias your polling places, reinstate the aparthied of Jim Crow laws, and disenfranchise a whole people, you should have the balls to call a spade a spade. (Racial epithet intended, dammit)

How can it GET more clear? Blacks are NOT stupid, and neither are Democrats. 90 percent of Blacks vote Democratic, and in return, 90 percent of Democrats are pro-black. Say what you want, it's a win/win situation, and most Democrats support black causes because it gets them elected.

Republicans don't want blacks to vote. Yes, I said it, you heard it, deal with it. Don't try to refute it because for every point in support of your cause I can provide 100 black tesimonials that prove you're wrong.

If the black vote in Florida was fairly counted, Kerry would have won easily.

I don't feel like cutting and pasting, so re-read the previous sentence. Now, read it again. And again. Once more, beyatch.

Now...if the black vote in Ohio was fairly counted, John Kerry would have easily won in Ohio.

There was a massive Republican effort to disenfranchise Ohio blacks. Who will stand up for them?
