Now that Mamdouh Habib has been returned, is our government going to be held accountable for complicity in his torture and imprisonment?

John Howard … Philip Ruddock … Daryl Williams … Amanda Vanstone … heads of various government agencies … NSW Premier Bob Carr (since he obviously condones Mr Habib’s treatment by agreeing to continued surveillance.)

My guess is no, and the hypocrites, aiders and abetters in this phony war that makes a mockery of the "decency" that this country is supposed to espouse, will get off scot free - again.

1. Put Beazley and the rest of the ALP wimps up there

with the aiders and abetters - we won't hear a word from him.

As for Bob Carr - he supported the invasion of Iraq, and has never
publicly resiled from that position. I've always thought he was
in the wrong party.

I don't believe that Howard and Co. have ever made any representation
to the US to free them, or even speed up the trail process.
Obviously there was no information to be gained from Habib and the
US doesn't want to waste any more money feeding and torturing him.

You know what's worst about this whole thing? Most of the country
doesn't give a damn.
