Drinking Liberally now in Melbourne
Melbourne will begin hosting a chapter of Drinking Liberally (see http://drinkingliberally.org for more info). Please note that this is the US use of the term (small "l" liberal) and not the Australian use of the term "Liberal".

The inaugural meeting will be on 15 March (Thurs) at Mac's Hotel (34 Franklin St, CBD; just a few blocks southeast of Vic Market) from 7 pm on wards. Thereafter to meet every 3rd Thurs of each month (same time, same location). The Melbourne chapter of Democrats Abroad also meets at this time so any DA business will be handled as a "break out" session in accordance with Drinking Liberally's endorsement policies.

Briefly, Drinking Liberally is "An informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics."

Join us for a pot and lively discussion about American politics. Australian politics and the relationship betw US and Australian politics is also a hot topic so Australians are welcome to attend.
