Poll question: Which foreign government or corporation is Blair an agent for?
He obviously doesn't give a rat's ass about the UK.

3. I think he's an old-style British imperialist ...
who doesn't realize that the sun set on the Empire quite a long time ago, and that he'd better be looking after his own country, rather than helping to kill lots of people in Iraq, and making us all a target for terrorists.

Under the circumstances, it's made him a Bush poodle - but I think that he'd have poodled up to anyone who helped him star in an imperialist role. After all, we can't rule an empire on our own any more.

He'll probably go down in history as the only politician to be a British Labourite and an American Republican at the same time.

And I hope he goes down in history rather soon, and gets replaced by someone reasonable, if such exists in current British politics.

5. I hope I am not being unfair
but I think he would have been perfectly at home in the early 19th C as well.
What strategic interest does Brittain have in Iraq anyway?

I wish I could send him back in time to command the Brittish forces in Afghanistan in the 1830s and see how he'd fare.

4. Its a bit cynical
Blair has stood over a 50% membership drop in the labour party
since he came in office. He is a clinton, in all the negative sense.
He has, in groping to steal his opposition's thunder, divided and
destroyed his own party. It makes him the agent of the british
right, and global corporatism, and though he has done wrong by
making criminal war, his crime is to follow in tory footsteps.

I don't think blair is an agent anyone but himself, in his self
serving mission to destroy the british left.

You left that out of the poll...

6. Blair is a Tory in all but name
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 03:05 PM by fedsron2us
He serves the international capitalist mafia. Britain is a one party state in which you can either have a Labour Tory government or a Conservative Tory government. Which is in power makes little difference as the policies are virtually identical.

8. "I don't think blair is an agent anyone but himself"
And I would tend to agree with you. I'm afraid that new labour has always struck me as being about power at any cost.

11. Aparently a lot of neo-cons started out as lefty pinkos
I heard someone on the radio last night suggest that Blair is a neo-con, but I'm not sure he was ever a lefty pinko.
