George Galloway's acceptance speech
I just saw Galloway on Television and he gave a pretty striking speech

Snip
He said: "Mr Blair, this defeat is for Iraq and the other defeats that New Labour has received this evening are for Iraq. All the people you have killed and all the loss of life have come back to haunt you and the best thing that the Labour Party can do is sack you."

Mr Galloway said New Labour had "plumbed new depths" in the election campaign and described the London Borough of Tower Hamlets as "in the grip of a corrupt political culture".

He was surprisingly lenient towards his rival Ms King saying his campaign had not been against her, but against Mr Blair.

"The defeat was not her defeat this evening, it was a defeat for Tony Blair," he said. He wished her well in her future Parliamentary career and said he was sure she would return to Government.

1. It was a striking speech

but I think Galloway mired it by acting like a total arrogant arse when he was interviewed by the BBC.

2. That was no act!
That was the real Galloway!

I wish he'd picked a constituency where his victory would have been more clear-cut. There's probably truth in the analysis that a lot of his votes were a result of misogyny against Oona King. But he probably counted on that...

3. She was a woman last time too...
but still managed a majority of 10k :-)

I saw Roy Hattersly smearing George with the charge of racism (bizarre eh!) on ITV and no-one took him up on it in studio. But the next guest was Alex Salmon at his count and he had a few sharp words for Roy!

4. Tony Banks made a despicable remark
He said the Muslim vote only voted against Oona because she was a women. This is the guy who called the problems of his constituents "boring".

Horrible man. Why does the East End attract such vile MPs? I'm so pleased Banks is going.

5. Did you see
Galloway going off it at ITN the other day calling them liars and saying he'd been set up.

Hilarious and true, ITN is just tv tabloid
