Chelsea Vs Liverpool
This is the real burning issue in the country today.

I'm a huge Liverpool fan so theres no point asking my opinion..... but what does everyone else think will happen.

Predictions

Which players will shine?

My prediction for tonight is 2-1 Liverpool

1. Chelsea 2-0
But it'd be funny to have Liverpool win it, to see how the FA decide who to give the 4th place to: you lot or Everton.

I'm a Blackburn fan so I'm not really that bothered either way, but a local-ish team would be preferable to a London team

3. If Liverpool beat Chelsea and lift the Champions' League title
in the final, Liverpool will qualify for next year as champions and Everton will be denied entry despite finishing fourth.

5. It's not guaranteed
UEFA say it's up to the FA to decide how to allocate the Champions League places & you're only allowed a max of 4 teams per country in it

7. From Football365.com
http://www.football365.com/news/story_150804.shtml

The FA have asked UEFA to be allowed five clubs in the Champions League should Liverpool win the tournament but that plea is certain to be rejected - their rules clearly state a maximum of four clubs per country are allowed. The regulations also stress that it will be up to the FA board to decide.

They say: "At the request of the national association concerned, the UEFA Champions League title-holders may be entered for this competition, as an additional representative of that association, if they have not qualified for the UEFA Champions League via the top domestic league championship.

"If, in such a case, the title-holders come from an association entitled to enter four teams for the UEFA Champions League, the fourth-placed club in the top domestic league championship has to be entered for the UEFA Cup."

4. I don't think Ms. Clinton has a chance against a team of
brawny males. I'll put my money on Liverpool.

6. 0-0 draw.
Can't say it was the most exiting of matches. Hopefully both sides will attack a bit more when they play at Anfield.

8. It looks like Liverpool may be denied entry afterall
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 08:12 PM by Anarcho-Socialist
Liverpool suffer new Euro setback: Uefa insists Liverpool are not guaranteed entry into next season's Champions League unless they finish fourth in the Premiership.

Liverpool could win the Champions League but miss out by finishing outside the top four league placings. Uefa communications director William Gaillard said the trophy would not be devalued if the holders were missing.

(snip)

Fourth place is currently occupied by Liverpool's rivals Everton, who need six points from four games to qualify for the Champions League.

(snip)

But there are widespread reports claiming the FA's board confirmed they will enter the top four Premiership teams after a meeting on Thursday.

9. To be honest if we won it
I wouldnt be thinking about next year....

Its the kind of achivement that teams spend years building towards, (Man U for instance) and we have a chance to nick it unexpectedly right at the beginnning of Benitez's reign.

Id take winning it and not defending it, over losing it and playing it again next year, anyday.

10. Well, who expected Liverpool to go through?
I'm not sure if the goal actually crossed the line, but if it hadn't then the ref would've given a penalty for the foul on Baros & Cech would've been sent off... So it was probably to Chelsea's advantage that it was given.

Dissappointed the Chelsea only managed 1 shot in the entire game 7 having to resort to the long-ball.

On the plus side the FA could still have the awkward option of deciding whether to give the 4th place to Liverpool or whoever finishes 4th.

PS. Where the hell did they get 6 min injury time from? There were no injuries & only lost about 1 min each for the pitch invaders (who seemed to be wearing similar clothes - a organised protest? Fathers 4 Justice?).

11. Hmmmm
Can't say I'm too disappointed to see Chelsea lose though. If only because we are now spared the typical Scouse wallowing in despair that follows anything vaugely bad happening there.

Re: the goal. Liverpool robbed it. As usual.

12. Me!
I thought even if the Chelsea boys moderated their celebrations, there would still be a mental down after the Bolton game. Also Duffer was injured and Robben not match fit, Liverpool at home and I like Benitez.

Hilarious seeing Jose say "Well, the best team........lost!"

13. FA Hypocracy
Edited on Sat May-07-05 06:33 AM by english guy
The FA have decided that even if Liverpool win the Champions League, the 4th English place will not go to them, but to whoever finishes 4th in the Prem (probably Everton).

But last year they said this from Football365:

The Champions League
Number of places available: 4

What if?
Should Arsenal or Chelsea win the Champions League , they will automatically qualify for next season's competition but England will not gain an extra Champions League place, even if they finish outside of the top four in the Premiership. In that scenario the fourth-placed team in the Premiership will play in next season's UEFA Cup .
