Lib-Dem Chris Huhne leaves his wife for mistress.
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 10:47 PM by EmilyKent
ENERGY Secretary Chris Huhne has left his wife after admitting an affair with a former party aide.

The 55-year-old Lib Dem confirmed last night he had separated from Vicky, his wife of 26 years, and was now in a relationship with Carina Trimingham.

It is understood the affair started at least a year ago.

In a statement, he said: “I am in a serious relationship with Carina Trimingham and I am separating from my wife.”

1. "five children"
If as it appears HE has left HER after his adultery was revealed then he's despicable.

Was this guy an orange booker? I forget.

2. That is very bad on a personal level...
but Huhne - unlike Caroline Nokes; John Major and what seemed like most of his Cabinet; and the Clinton-impeachers in America - had not been promoting Family Values and Back-to-Basics for the rest of us, while indulging in their own affairs, so there isn't the same stench of hypocrisy.

I hope this doesn't result in his being kicked out of the Cabinet; he is one of the most competent members, not that there is exactly a fantastic level of competition.

3. I'm sure there's plenty of Tory ministers...
...with skeletons in their own closets so for that reason I suspect that they won't be in any hurry to kick him out for this.

I think we can all remember Back to Basics.

4. My memory is that it was compulsory for ministers in Tory governments.
