My dad told me how all the classrooms had them in the 80s.

1. If it gets rid of PFI in education
GOOD.

These building programmes were done with credit card levels of interest rates.

5. What would have been the problem with on book borrowing?
PFI was always nothing more than figure fiddling for Central Government and a way for Local Authorities to renew street lights.

I have no belief that it will disappear under this Government or any other future government. In fact in order to get "borrowing down" I would not be surprised to see more PFI deals replacing normal borrowing.

A horrible scheme dreamt up by Treasury mandarins and keenly adopted by politicians.

For all the talk of reducing levels of borrowing as a result of PFI (a scheme that has had to be bailed out time and time again despite being told the Private Sector carries the risk) we will never know the real level of debt that the UK is in.

The Tory candidate was very keen indeed on PFI. However, PFI is a really bad way to fund infrastructure. For more information on this "Captive State" by George Monbiot is a very good place to start.
