Heathrow raid accused escapes from High Court in London
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 10:37 AM by muriel_volestrangler
Mr Blake, 57, who police described as dangerous, went missing on Wednesday.
...
It is the first crown court criminal trial to be held without a jury in England and Wales for more than 350 years.

Police said Mr Blake, from Notting Hill, west London, went missing at 1415 GMT in the vicinity of the Royal Courts of Justice.

Officers have appealed for information in a bid to trace his whereabouts.

What a cock-up. This is a trial in which they've suspected jury-nobbling so much they had to do away with a jury, then one of the defendants can just 'go missing'; and then, despite him being dangerous (police advise he isn't approached) it takes them 24 hours to tell the public he's escaped!

From The Times:

It is believed that Mr Blake, 57, who was seen waiting for the trial to restart, simply left the building. He was on bail and so was not subject to any formal security.

WTF is someone who is a danger to the public doing on bail? And someone who may have tried to nobble a jury?

1. Hey be fair,
he wasn't speeding, didn't drop litter, wasn't a group of kids hanging round a park, or taking a picture of a policeman. As for dangerous, he doesn't look "foreign" and wasn't carrying a rucksack. He is hardly a priority.
