A Happy St George's Day to all True Englanders
Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 04:36 AM by non sociopath skin
I hope that you all have your sick notes and are enjoying the traditional St George's Day pursuits of watching Punch and Judy shows, bouncing on inflated castles, doing tugs of war on the village green, bicycling to Evensong, participating in pub quizzes about English trivia in your thatched local taverns and, above all, drinking large quantities of ale with union flags, bulldogs, soldiers, WW2 fighter aircraft and/or Winston Churchill on the pump handle logo.

All together now: "Land of hope and glory... muvver of the free ... another pint of Bombardier, please, Al."

Have a good 'un!

1. Gosh, the St George's Day feelgood factor is mind-blowing! LOL

The only Engerland flag in our street was on the car spares shop run by the guy in the baseball cap and cut-offs who gets his customers to park in the bus stop outside his emporium, causing sundry little old ladies to risk their necks while hailing a bus. Respec'

Did see a couple of guys throwing up outside a pub in Newcastle offering cheap Bombardier Bitter.

But the St. George's Quiz at my local was cancelled for lack of interest.

Methinks Turkish Saint's Day will have an uphill struggle to overtake St Pat's hereabouts. Or Burns Night, for that matter ...

Elsewhere, of course, the joy is unconfined ...

6. The time shown here on DU
in the UK is GMT not BST. I did that at 5 minutes to midnight when I got home. Six minutes later it wouldn't have been St George's Day - would it.
