to scare us all and so we can then call them brilliant?

I mean i know Crick didn't mean to carry those papers in full view of cameras to Downing street but the operation was due to take place within ours anyway.

I simply don't believe a word any of them say anymore.

1. From the Tyne to the Thames, the police are a politicised force
but those well-meaning hard-working individuals within the police can't change the institutionalised right-wing bias (whether New Labour or Tory), nor change the sexism, racism, homophobia and anti-working class nature of the police.

The police forces' main focus is not to protect the public, but to protect the government and the political classes from the people.

I think the government learned the wrong lessons from Northern Ireland. What do the following have in common? Internment without trial, politicised police forces, police with their badges covered beating the crap out of people, civil liberties being trodded on. These are strategies which helped cause the start of the Troubles in the late 1960s and escalated them in the 1970s, and are now becoming increasingly implemented on the island of Great Britain.

2. Very true. Our police force came into being for a very different
reason to, say America's. It was to protect the monied against the mob.

I once heard someone explaining the difference in opinions of the police between America and Britain due to their history.

They said in america they are working class heros but in Britain they are working class traitors.

3. No evidence, no charges, but the "terrorists" are to be deported
Most of the Pakistani men arrested last week in an anti-terrorist operation will be deported rather than charged, senior counter-terrorism sources told The Times last night.

Officials in London and Islamabad said that Britain had begun seeking assurances about how the men would be treated if they were returned to Pakistan. “The British wanted to be reassured that if some of these men were deported they would not face torture,” an informed source in Pakistan said.

One of the 12 men detained, an 18-year-old, has been freed from anti-terrorist detention and is in the custody of immigration officials.

4. A sweet tooth is now a terrorist offence!
"Extensive searches of properties have so far not believed to have led to the discovery of any bomb-making equipment or materials.

Yesterday police at one property in Manchester were seen removing sachets of sugar - sometimes used as a component in homemade explosives."

You couldn't make this up - no-one would believe you.
