Prince Charles detox 'quackery'
Prince Charles has been accused of exploiting the public in times of hardship by launching what a leading scientist calls a "dodgy" detox mix.

Edzard Ernst, the UK's first professor of complementary medicine, said the Duchy Originals detox tincture was based on "outright quackery".

There was no scientific evidence to show that detox products work, he said.

Duchy Originals says the product is a "natural aid to digestion and supports the body's elimination processes".

1. I always think that
'alternative medicine' is just medicine that doesn't work. Medicine that does work is called medicine

4. I think that "alternative medicine" is a good name
... after all, it's an alternative to medicine!

2. the man's an arse
He doesn't listen to the scientific community and instead puts pressure on government to siphon off money to go to his quack pet projects. I hope he over-extends himself and we get a constitutional republic.

5. On the other hand ...
... he also does a lot of good because he isn't beholden to political
or (especially) corporate influence - he is prepared to speak out
(which is more than any of the wankers in Whitehall are prepared to do).

PS: If a "constitutional republic" ends up like the US of A, I think I'd
rather have a monarch with largely ceremonial powers! :P

6. That's a constitutional republic rather than a presidential republic
I'm thinking Ireland rather than the USA.

I don't think Charles does much good. He's not beholden to political influence yes, but he's pushing his personal batty agenda, and at least the political entities can claim to represent an electorate.

3. Oh well, every country needs its health woo who gets credence from Birth and not Worth
(to use a good old 19th-century radical expression).

We have Prince Charles. The Americans, I understand, have RFK Jr. Same principle.

7. Very good point
If Bobby Jr was not Kennedy then he'd be just another moonbat.
