At least Canadian Politicians have a sense of humour...
Edited on Sat Nov-26-05 10:28 AM by CatBoreal

'Duct tape,' is how Conservative Deputy Leader Peter MacKay bluntly responded when asked how his party should deal with persistent internal disputes and candid remarks by politicians like Alberta premier Ralph Klein, who this week predicted a Liberal minority in the next election.

I am no fan of Peter McKay, but this was too funny not to post. If he manages to succeed Harper, the Grits may be in for a challenge.

Edited because I can't spell.

1. I agree re the Grits having a bigger challenge with MacKay than
they do with Harper. I also believe MacKay is actively working behind the scenes to do his best to unseat Harper and has been doing so from the time Harper was elected as leader.

2. And Behind The Curtain
Belinda who? MacKay seen with new heiress
Sophie Desmarais: Mila Mulroney played matchmaker a month ago

OTTAWA - Peter MacKay has been dating a blonde billionairess. Not Belinda Stronach -- this time it's Sophie Desmarais of the wealthy Power Corp. family.

The two have been seen together around Ottawa, including this week when she watched Question Period from the Opposition gallery in the House of Commons.

They exchanged glances in the midst of all the rancorous pre-election debate and had dinner plans that night at Beckta, a popular restaurant favoured by many of Ottawa's politicians, including Cabinet ministers.

Mr. MacKay, who is deputy leader of the Conservatives, and Ms. Desmarais met at dinner at Brian and Mila Mulroney's Montreal home about a month ago. The Mulroneys played matchmaker -- Mrs. Mulroney thinks highly of Mr. MacKay and knows Ms. Desmarais. They have been seen dining together a couple of times in Ottawa since then.
