Mounties dropped data sharing safeguards after 9/11, inquiry told

OTTAWA — A key RCMP officer in the Maher Arar investigation says the normal safeguards on sharing intelligence with U.S. authorities were dropped in the wake of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Mike Cabana told a public inquiry the overriding priority was to prevent any further terrorist acts.

That meant the Mounties didn't put the same caveats they would normally put on information shared with foreign agencies like the FBI.

So it wasn't CSIS.
Who authorized this change? The RCMP or the government?
So C. Powell was right.
The politician that got up on the stand awhile back looks pretty stupid now. Or would say the lot of them have egg on their face.

And by the way everyone, the US most likely has all the RCMP records by now. How about CSIS.

Next to be transferred is the next census data. I guess everyone has forgotten about that.
