Grope and Flail: "MacKay ‘shocked' by Stronach defection"
HAR HAR HAR Pond Scum Pete is just a-cryin' the blues... as his ex-tuna's billion dollar inheritance sprouts wings and flies away. He is shocked -- shocked!

David Orchard's probably enjoying a feast of schadenfreude!
 :nopity:

Deputy Conservative Leader Peter MacKay said Wednesday he was "shocked" by one-time colleague and romantic partner Belinda Stronach's decision to cross the floor but called the move "a very minor setback" for the party.

"You know, I wish her the best, I really do," Mr. MacKay told CBC Newsworld, making his first public comments since news of Ms. Stronach's decision broke.

Speaking outside his father's house in Nova Scotia, Mr. MacKay said his heart is a little worse for wear following this week's surprising developments but also insisted that his commitment to the party remains unshaken.

"I've got a lot of people around me that have been very supportive, you know," he said.

1. I buy his 'heartbreak' as much as I did his feigned 'outrage'
at Harper during the faux Con's policy convention. This works VERY well for Mr. MacKay in helping him reach his goal of taking over the faux Con leadership and turfing Harper.

2. I worked at the BC elections for 14 hours yesterday
and came home to another 4 years of Gordon Campbell... and the news of Peter Mackay's heartbreak. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

3. LOL but don't be down!
We have a STRONG opposition now, having a Liberal government this time will give Carole the time to get her feet wet in the Legislature and show she is a strong leader and will be different than the Clark government. If she can accomplish this, I would not doubt the NDP may well form the government next time.

4. another elections worker? good for you!
It was great having more scrutineers and runners on the ground yesterday -- a big change from 2001. I think it made a real difference, in terms of getting the vote out. Thanks for helping. Did you have a chance to drop in for the reception downtown?

At our polling station, the Elections BC people were agog about Belinda and Peter (when the voters weren't around, that is). It did help liven up the day. Well, that and the incident where someone brought a dog into the polling station, and the creature was stopped just as it was lifting its leg against the table where the voting screen was located ....

5. No, we didn't get finished until 10
and I was exhausted. I wasn't a scrutineer, but working as a clerk. However I was planning to scrutineer if I didn't get the job. We had one NDP scrutineer all day and no liberals until 5 PM. I think most of the other stations had NDP as well. Nobody challenged anything that my co-worker and I did and I think the poor scrutineer was bored. I lent her a magazine.
