Alternative budget foresees big surpluses in coming years
TORONTO - The federal government will enjoy an estimated $45 billion in surpluses over the next three years, and that money should be spent fighting poverty and correcting social inequality, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives said Thursday.

In its annual alternative federal budget, the social policy research group said more should be allocated to increase the child tax benefit, create a national child care program, boost Employment Insurance and build more affordable housing.
