A large part of the problem is that the actual facts have been pretty hard to come by. The family is one strange bunch o' people.

For instance, the story of the brother who was released as I reported it in that last DU thread above was then completely recanted by him and replaced with a long and complicated tale of working for the CIA in Europe after being released from Guantanamo ... where he had been taken in the first place only to be an undercover informant in the prison ... . 2. My question and concern is the role of our government...

in this. Countries like Britain and Australia put pressure on the US government regarding their citizens being kept at Gitmo yet our government remained silent. Why??? Citizens of Canada should be according the right to be charged, if there is evidence, in Canada and receive due process in Canada, imo.

As in the Arar case, our government is complicit in the abuses that are taking place in Gitmo due to their refusal to insist on any Canadians being held there be returned to Canada.
